  1. I have 5 different maps (CNAVNT, TOPOCAN, TOPOUSA, BLUECHART, and Basemap) on my colorado (not oregon but i believe they behave the same) and it seems that it takes about 5 seconds to change profiles, when only 3 maps(CNAVNT, TOPOCAN, Basemap) are loaded, it is almost instant. For me it doesnt seem to be the map size, but the number of different map products. Of course boot up is also slower with many maps.
  2. Update to the most current firmware. I believe that issue has a fix....its something to do with WAAS
  3. Ok that should be fixable. This may help you.... http://californication.mtbguru.com/2005/11...in-etrex-vista/
  4. For your info. I have a broken etrex vista. Every thing seems to work except I cannot go left/right with the joystick. I took it apart, and swapped the lcd/joystick board from a fully working etrex legend (same part). Fully re-assembled everything and it still exhibits the exact same problem. The legend with the vista lcd still works 100%. If yours is exhibiting the same problem, I would say that there is a pretty good chance that the problem is not with the lcd/joystick assembly. Hope that helps you.
  5. Is it this one? I am pretty sure that either the cache owner or the tb owner has marked it as missing. I would just select "grab it from somewhere else" so that it is in your inventory, and just move it as normal. The log appears correct so the mileage will be proper.
  6. Yes, I do transfer my maps with a card reader. The majority of the time spent is for the building of the mapset, not the transfer though. Transfer is only a couple minutes. You can shave twice while waiting for a huge map to build.
  7. Toned it down to a more reasonable 2100 segments and only around 1gb, that will keep me covered for anywhere I plan to drive/boat to. Mapsource reports 43 minutes for that task ....much better. Thanks again guys/gals.
  8. I was just reading about that..... Gonna have to abort the mission as its about 6600. Time to start over.. thanks.
  9. I am trying to make a large map set for my colorado so I dont need to swap sd cards. Using mapsource, I have added 2+ provinces from Topo Can, 2+ states from Topo Usa 08, all of City navigator NA NT 09, and all of Bluechart Americas. Total map size is reported to be 3568mb which will fit fine on my 4gb sdhc card. Mapsource is currently "Building map set..." and it states time remaining as 18 hours 37 minutes. Does it actually take this long or is there something wrong with mapsource. I had trouble with losing my topo can maps so i re-installed everything, then I had trouble updating to the current version of mapsource so I had to uninstall/re-install that. Every thing seems to work fine however this seems like a rediculous amount of time to build a map set. Is it just me or have others had to wait along time to build a large map? I really dont want to have to relaod it all again.

Not saying this is official or anything, but here is an earthcache and a traditional cache that are very close together near me. GC105A1 and GCWRGF
  11. Is it possible to search for archived caches by location. It would be nice to know if there used to be a cache placed previously in a location, and why it is now no longer there.
  12. You were exactly correct. Thank you!! That has been bugging me. Of course I checked every setting I could think of, but skipped right over that one. Thanks again.
  13. Colorado 300. The colors in the map are incorrect. Water is displayed as white and most other map features are off as well. Here is the City Nav NA NT2009 map displayed when the geocaching profile is selected. Water is blue and normal. Geocaching Profile And this is the same map displayed when switched to the automotive profile. Water is white and other colors are incorrect. Automotive Profile All maps display in this way when switched to the automotive profile including Topo Can and the DEM basemap. I dont often use the automotive profile, but this bothers me. Has it always been this way and I just noticed? Any idea what has happened, or any known way to fix it?
  14. I have an old Garmin GPS 12 that I never use anymore. I was going to give it to my kids to play with, but I thought I would check what they sell for on ebay. While searching around I found this one for sale. As of right now it is bid up to to $182usd with almost 4 days left in the auction. Is there something that I am not aware of about these old relics? Should I hang onto mine? I have a Colorado 300 and an eTrex Vista so I really dont need my GPS12. Chock this up to buyer stupidity or is there more to it?
  15. Nice work, Geofellas. I am playing around with it and will see if I can "break" it.
  16. Since updating from 2.6-2.7 I have had 2 random shutdowns when hitting the back button after viewing a cache description. I cannot duplicate it at will, so for the time being I will live with it . A minor inconvenience, as it does seem to boot back up faster.
  17. I am torn between the crab and the canyon shot. I love macro shots, but it is very tough to get a landscape picture that is really different from most others...... so my vote is for post #35 canyon
  18. Noel, my Sheppard cross. A colorful, thumb sized, juvenile Western Toad, spotted near GC1BAHK 3 days ago.
  19. Found coin #50 in GCR7VZ Didnt realise we needed to be creative with the photos, so just had a quick pic snapped with me at GC5CB0, but decided not to leave it there as it is quite remote (last cache visit there was 4 years prior). Ended up leaving it at GC1B0FJ Snow Stop, which seemed approprate for the theme of the coin. Thanks for the awesome cointest!!
  20. Changelog here http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3887 This is good...
  21. Not sure what you mean by that. Does this not mean 2.60/2.60?
  22. Garmin webupdater will grab 2.60 for you.
  23. hahahaha I find the coin neither distasteful nor inappropriate, but thats just my opinion. For the record, I am a father of 3 pre-teen girls that come out with me, and would not even be remotely concerned if they saw that coin.
