  1. You just may be on to something, plus that would make for a good pic on the trail cam LOL
  2. There is a jeep hotel about 50 miles away from here that has that rule (take one leave one) or feel free to discover them if you do not have one to trade. It is also posted that if the rules are not followed your log will be deleated. Now I understand this, in that then everyone gets to see and enjoy those infamous jeeps, but on the other hand it would be nice to see them in other areas as well, and lets face not everyone has a jeep to trade at all times. Just a note this cache does seem to work well as it still has the same amount of jeeps in it all the time, but I've also noticed that most cachers just discover them leaving the jeeps on a long idel (hope they don't run out of gas LOL)

    jeep TB ?

Ok thank you I was pretty sure that's what I should do, just checking if I should notifiy the current holder. But i'm guessing they will figure it out.

    jeep TB ?

Recently, well ok not recent, due to the fact i've had it for longer then I anticipated. I picked up a red jeep, and just noticed that someone has grabbed it from me, and placed it in an event many many states away from mine. It was posted that this was done for an accurate mileage, and I dont think that this jeep has ever been to this state. That aside, should I just grab it back ( I still have the jeep in my possession) or e-mail them to ask before hand. I'm not looking to prosecute, and personally I'm not worried about the mileage. I have just assumed that there was a mix up with a tracking number possibly (meaning maybe two tracking numbers were close to one another and typed one and got another) or possibly received the number through some other means. I would just like the jeep to show up where it truly is so that I can place it in a new cache that I am about to activate. And I don't want to upset anyone for a mistake, or stem an argument for a number that they may or maynot have received from someone else.
  5. Yes they do go mising alot, a few of us in our area developed a plan that we hope might at least idendify who has been to with the aid of a trail cam. For the time being I made a wooden cut out in the shape of my coins out of 1/8" wood and then lamenated a color pic of the coin to it, that way cachers still get to somewhat see, and enjoy what the coin looks like, and if it goes missing its not a huge deal other then a mileage calc.
  6. Sorry for the late reply, thats just it ,I'm pretty sure there's nothing I could do even if I did manage to catch someone, although I think I would have some words to say ( what else could one do?) I just felt compeled to find others opinions on this matter. I know... I myself am not a premium member but I do have respect for this past time and know the time and effort that goes into mantaining it but thats another thread With that said even being new this matter still upsets me espeacialy when im the one that looks like the thief
  7. Do you think the idea of the web cam would work? Were having problems as to how to identify who is on the camera
  8. I fear we have a coin thief in our area. There has been several coins that have turned up missing in my area and my concern started, when A: a coin I had brought back from CA. went missing just days after I had placed it B: the same thing happend to beautiful coin that I happend to be the first to find. not to mention a couple other coins that have gone missing. THIS all within a few miles of each other. Now we all know that they are prone to disapprence and such, not to mention WHY? you can't sell them to the public ie. e-b** and you can't share them. So again why? Anyways has anyone ever caught a thief or divised a plan to accomplish this feat. I know in the end it's surely not worth, and to take it for what it is. But a friend and I thought about putting a web cam up at a cache and placing a trail cam not sure of the details on how. But let me know what you think Signed (like others im sure) Fed up
  9. I understand that go jay bee but what is your stance if one was to (as you put it ) touch a coin at a cache but there happens to be 6 of them I've seen logs that support this logic (grab one ,discover the rest) again I say this is my ? I want to respect the time and effort put into every cache and tracable. I just want everyones opinion on this matter and I thank you for yours (please post again if needed)
  10. So far (speeking for myself) I have only logged the ones that I feel I can help in there goals. BUT I have already come into circumstances where a ? could arise. Which leads back to my origanal ?
  11. Don't generalize because I totally disagree! I have covered the tracking numbers on my geocoins exactly for the opposite reason. Let the icon 'hos get there fix someplace else. Grab it, move it, log it or let it be. I am not trying to generalize (I try to respect the goals of coins and bugs and try to abide by them ) and apparently I see your take ,which is what I want. Would you feel the same way if I discovered, didn't move it , but still helped it on it's goal (ie. pics)
  12. PLEASE READ I WILL TRY TO STICK TO THE POINT The infamous icon! I am a newbie, but I want to face this fact. I enjoy looking at users profiles to see there icons, but I have also noticed that some have a lot logged as a discovery. I have heard that this an event pratice but in some profile's this does not appear to be the case (I am not here to place judgement merly to explore the possibilities of how I would like to pursue my quest in this fantastic sport) I have many questions about this matter but I am not sure if I can cover them in one thread. I posted a recent tread that got moved to the TB forum but it did'nt go where I expected it to. If this veers to another thread and you post a new one (or no of another one) please feel free to e-mail or post a reply to such as I a merly looking for opinions and info Thank you
  13. A freind of mine recently discovered a bug and one oof its missions was to meet its , i'll call them it's brothers. (there were four in the series) I happened to now that one of it's (the bugs) brothers was near buy in a cache he had previously found so he went back and snapped a pic of the two bugs together, he did not take that bug but instead left it for someone else to enjoy he mearly went back for the pic being a goal of the bug. In this instance I was with him when he obtained the bug and I to had seen the brother in the cache hence i knew where it was (i chose to take a different bug out of that cache) What are your thoughts on #1 him discovering the brother and #2 me discovering both, being i was with him when he got the one and physically saw the other one.
  14. I have come across a cache with a pop out snake in it and yes it did suprise me in fact that was the cache name and i have to say t was very funny to me i thought to myself a field cam would be funny to mount nearby to catch peoples reactions
  15. That's my thought on it also. If we are out on the trail and we discover it then so be it but not at the end of the night, while showing off our caches. I just wanted to make sure I was on the same page.
  16. I undestand discovery on the trail. It just seems that it's a way to inflate your profile.
  17. Now if two of us are out cacheing and one of us finds a coin or something, then can one find it and one discover it. It almos doesn't seem fair because if I made a phone call I could discover 5 coins. (not right??)
  18. Im fairly new to geo, and like many other posts iv'e seen i to am addicted. My question is what is (if any) the ediquette on discoverying a tracable as opposed to logging it. I recently saw that someone had discoverd 6 coins in one cache, should one discover it in a cache?, or is it ok to discover it in another persons postion? or is it just bad altogether? Im just wondering every one take on this matter. TY
