  1. Wow, I am amazed at how far this thread has gone since I first posted it. I like the RIP head stone. Nice job. Don't get too carried away. I am still waiting to hear back from CB. I will drop a few lines once I get word.
  2. Or thank them profusely for this very wise decision. <== That meanis I'm kidding. Actually, the direct contact to the person (I guess) who gave blanket permission for all OYR hides is on the OYR bookmark list: OYR across America This could be a misunderstanding on a local level. Thanks I will check with them next.
  3. There wasn't much I could do anyway. Reviewers will require you to get permission for CB caches anyway. I am a believer in the forgiveness before permission in some cases, but in these cases you are required to get permission.
  4. What is the GC for the cache you mention above?
  5. I just sent them another email inquiring about what will happen to all the caches and why was this change made. Maybe everyone can send in a message to Cracker Barrel and help keep these caches around. Here is a link for anyone that is interested. Cracker Barrel Contact
  6. Well a little stealth could help. I mean you can pull right up to mine and pretend to use the pay phone while retrieving the cache. I am curious as to where this cache is located. Can you send me the GC code? I am a new cacher as well.
  7. I was leaving a cache area at around 3am once. My brother and I were full of mud. A cop pulled me over because I was speeding. He looked us over and said, "what are you guys up too at this time?" I explained geocaching and the place we had just left. He chuckled and said, "go on get out of here." I think geocaching save me from a ticket. Thanks
  8. I have a series called the Communicator Series and everyone of them is hidden in high traffic areas. I started this series shortly after joining in April and I just had my first one muggled on the 11th. It was a magnetic and it cost me 2 bucks. I have a supply of these things and will be heading out to hide it again. I give them the three strikes your out rule. Plus I don't hide them exactly the same when I return. Sorry to hear about your muggle woes. It just part of the game.
  9. I just recently published 2 OYR caches. One in Austintown, OH. And one in Fairmont,WV. Below you will find the original response I received from Corp. followed by their most recent response. I must add that the ladder response was followed up with a message left on my voice mail as well. FIRST LETTER: DATED SEPTEMBER 5TH, 2007 Dear Mr. Ulery, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with all of us here at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. We're always pleased to hear from our guests. Yes, you can hide one on the porch to the location mentioned. Only the porch, not inside the location. We look forward to seeing you in one of our locations again soon. Sincerely, Rachel Slagle Guest Relations Representative Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. 2ND LETTER: DATED September 11th, 2007 Dear Mr. Ulery, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with all of us here at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. We're always pleased to hear from our guests. Unfortunately, since I responded to your request and gave you permission to place an object on the porch of our Cracker Barrel location in Austintown, OH, we have been told by our Operations Department that we can no longer participate in the geocaching game. You do not have permission to place the object on the porch. Sorry for any mis understandings. We look forward to seeing you in one of our locations again soon. Sincerely, Rachel Slagle Guest Relations Representative Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. I am not sure how they plan on dealing with the hundreds of caches placed at Cracker Barrels across the US, but my feeling is that they may be gone all together in the future.
  10. Nice interview! Hey, I enjoyed that article too... How do you attach the images to you message? Like in you "most difficult find"... Thanks for any help... You mean the picture in the interview?

  12. I'm gearing up to buy the hcx and I am a total newbie to owning a gps. I know I need to get a sd card, which I remember reading a couple miles back for a good deal. I also see that I need additional maps. I will be using this for geocaching and driving directions, What are your suggestions for map software?
  13. Whoa that was a lot to read. Great information!! Thanks everyone!! I have been looking to get a gps unit soon. My 1st 200 finds have been with my nextel i880 cell phone using trimble and this will be my first gps purchase.
  14. I'm in the same boat. I have been watching threads all week in anticipation of get a gps. I currently use Trimble on my cell phone, which has been pretty good most of the time. I will be keeping an eye on this thread. Good luck.
  15. Go to the nearest corner and make a sing saying "WILL WORK FOR GPS". Ha good luck Jon
  16. As written on the cache page for GCP6A5 The Phoenix of Warfordsburg Boy do I have a story for this Cache. I am glad it’s my 100th find as well!!! Ok, I'm driving home from Baltimore to Youngstown from a week of doing business and I decide to stop off at this rest stop. I figure the first stop in PA better have a cache in it. I pull out my Trimble and do a quick search for caches and none turn up. So I hop out of the truck and grab my note pad and cell phone. I head straight out to an area that I think looks great for a cache. The next thing I know I FIND A GEOCACHE!!!! I was laughing so hard with amazement and couldn't believe the chances that something like this would happen. I called a friend of mine to tell him and he has hundreds of finds and has never had anything like this happen to him. I SL and place it back as I found it. I walked away with amazement and wonder. There were many areas that I could have walked to and parked at, but this just happened to be the one. It literally took me less than a minute to find this cache. I then rescanned the area and poof it appeared on my Trimble. What a fluke. I have no clue why it didn't show up during the first scan. To make things even better just before writing this log, I found out that this is a multi. I didn't even know there were other steps. What a happy 100th!!! This will be going into my profile as one of my all time favorites. TFTC!! THIS IS MY FAVORITE CACHE!!! Logged from my phone using the Geocache Navigator by Trimble [This entry was edited by CharlesIsland on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 6:34:02 AM.]
