  1. This is all I said to her. Hi, I noticed that "Little Tomoka River (FL)" Red Jeep Travel Bug has a message reporting it missing by Eartha. I also notice that it is in an archived cache that you own along with several other jeeps and coins. Is all that stuff missing? I just had someone steal one of my geocoins right out of one of my active caches. I archived that cache too and I am a little bit bitter over it. I can't believe someone would steal a 4 dollar coin out of a cache. Oh well, just curious.
  2. I have a bunch of hdds and I can't seem to get them apart. Any suggestions?
  3. I have a cache that is something like that. Stop by the cache page and check out some of the pics and logs. Fear Factor#2 (The Hatch) Go for it!!!!
  4. I have caches in several different states and I have found that if I have a family member or local cacher that will provide maintenance there are no problems. I simply mention them in the cache or list them in the owner tag ie. CharlesIsland maintained by CacheNameHere Check this one out GC15PH3
  5. With almost 100 caches I have 5 that are currently disabled and 6 that are archived. I just started in April of this year only time will really tell just how much maintenance will be involved. I will say this, I have learned how to hide things a little better. At first I think I had a pretty good grasp on keeping things hidden from Human muggles, but I didn't have a clue just how much trouble the wildlife muggles would be. When something gets muggled whether by human or animal I always seem to make the new hide a little more difficult and change the difficulty page a little bit. I use a 3 strikes rule before archiving except in one case where I was kinda muscled to archive a cache by a few disgruntled cachers. Happy Hiding!!
  6. Being new to geocaching since April of this year i didn't realize all the rules with preserves. I set up a 7 stage puzzle cache in a local preserve only to find out through my reviewer that I had to get permission. I called Ron or someone in that department who put me in contact with the land manager. I spoke with her and then met her at the preserve. I took her on the 7 stage multi. She had a blast and enjoyed the hike. However, I had to remove 6 of my 7 stages because they were way off the path. We have established a great relationship and she hoped I would move the 7 stages to within 20ft of the path. I didn't keep the puzzle there, but I do have 4 caches in the area all approved!! I even found out that she had removed a cache from the very same location that I intended to hide one. She still had the container with all contents, log books, tbs and swag. I am currently trying to adopt the cache and bring it out of an archived state. Interesting journey!!! I hope it encourages others.
  7. Sounds to me like you're ready for 40 more!!!!
  8. After getting the emails and voice mails I was curious as to how much more official it was going to be. I guess there was a slight bit of hope. Thanks Mike. Why do Charles Island's posts look different than everyone elses? On firefox only, and I'm not making this up. Really. To stay on topic, I'd think the chances of existing OYR's being grandfathered is practically nil. I've been wrong before though. I am not sure why my posts look different. I do have the stumble thing and noticed it is in my sig. If it is not allowed or is causing problems, please let me know and I will remove it. On Topic: I have been getting great logs on the two OYR caches that I have. I will be sad to see them go, but I am not worried about it. We will find something else, I have been working on another series just after I started caching. Maybe some of you would be interested in helping... if so send me a message. I don't want to irritate the topic police.

  10. Wow, I didn't realize the can I was opening with this thread. Update: I made one call and one call only to the contact found in the bookmark for OYR caches. I left a message and still haven't had any response. That is all I plan on doing at this point. The woman that sent me the original emails also left me a voice message to my cell phone leaving a number if I had any further questions. I don't really plan on calling her either. Again, if I get any response from my initial contact I will post it here.
  11. I have a cache named "Jesus Saves". I originally named it that because it is located just below a huge rock stenciled with the face of Jesus. I am a Christian but, I didn't put anything in the cache page or the cache saying "if you geocache without Jesus your going to hell!" Ha ha. Anyway, I just recently found a track for the mormon Church in a cache. I took it and enjoyed learning a little bit about another faith. One time I was out caching with my 2 year old. I came across the cache first and looked in it before he had a chance. There were a couple of items in there that I am glad he didn't get his hands on. I think a few religious items are the last things to be worried about finding in a cache.
  12. Yes it has been posted already, thanks. I called Nick and I am still awaiting his call.
  13. No news or info yet. I will post when I get word.
  14. I have a question for you guys, it might be a little off the topic, I am getting ready to buy a vista hcx right now. Here are my questions: What do you suggest I use in the truck to mount the unit? If I buy the Nylon carrying case, will the wrapped unit fit into the holster? Which maps do you suggest, and in what format (SD,DVD)? I have been caching from my Cell phone and it works great as long as there is a cell signal. My recent run through WV is what caused this itch to bye a unit.
  15. Hello everyone!!!!!! I am new to geocaching as of 4-16-2007. I can't believe it took so long for me to stumble upon this awesome hobby, sport, whatever it is. Traeumer is the one that got me into this and it has become a very addicting hobby since April. I have in front of me 16+ caches armed and ready for when I might discover another great place that needs a cache. Since starting I have been to mega events, regular events, met awesome people, found 300+ hides, hidden 70+ hides, purchased GCs and TBs, traded both, transported both, discovered both, been out till 3am night crawling, cached in 15 states, caught poison ivy twice for the first time in my life, fell into a creek up to my thighs in water to get a FTF, oh I could go on and on. The memories created through geocaching have been great and I look forward to meeting all of you on the path and at events. If you are ever in the Youngstown, Ohio area please look me up and I will take you around the Valley caching. Happy Caching!!! CI
  16. For those of you that remember why this thread was started, I still haven't heard anything from Cracker Barrel yet. I will keep ya posted.
  17. That's sweet Mr. Island. Nice to see a semi-local cacher get some media attention. I've done probably a dozen or so of your caches in the youngstown area. LOVED carter's cache. There's just something odd about wading into a field of geese to obtain a cache and not having them flee. I love those geese. They walk right up to ya. I am planning a local event with some of the locals, I hope you can come.
  18. I have been thinking of getting a GPS but, kept holding back due to the excellence of Trimble on my cell phone. It wasn't until this last trip home from Myrtle Beach to Ohio that I felt a need for gps. While in WV I totally lost cell signal all together. Trimble was picking up GPS signal just fine, but it requires cell signal to contact the geocaching site. I love trimble because you can cache on the fly and log your smileys and dnfs right from the phone as well as read all the logs. However, when I wasn't able to cache due to cell signal I got frustrated. I have been following the threads on the Vista HCX and that seems to be the one that will work best for me. I just realized now after reading some threads that maps need to be purchased for these things. What maps for North America do you suggest? I will be going to El Salvador in Feb 08 and I guess I will need maps for that area as well. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks
  19. This guy wants me to take him on a cache hunt. I will bring them on my Fear Factor #1 (GC13BJP) 5 in difficulty and 4 in terrain. This should be fun.
  20. I was just recently interviewed regarding Geocaching. Part 1 Part 2
  21. Nice interview! Hey, I enjoyed that article too... How do you attach the images to you message? Like in you "most difficult find"... Thanks for any help... You mean the picture in the interview? No, when you post a message, like in your message for your most difficult find. You had a series of images under what you had wrote, and you could click with the mouse to few them... Ok I think I know what you mean. Your talking about all the pictures I put on the Coin Travelers page right? Once you leave a log it will give you the option to upload pics. Just click on it and upload away. Did that help?
