  1. Thanks...that's what I was looking for. They need to make the "your control panel" statement more specific as to where it is located.
  2. I have enabled e-mail notification for a forum topic that I want off of. The e-mail states: Unsubscribing: -------------- You can unsubscribe at any time by logging into your control panel and clicking on the "View Subscriptions" link. I have checked my computers control panel and my controls here on the forum and I don't see a "View Subscriptions" link. Where is this link? I am running Windows XP. Thanks
  3. Sent e-mail for 2. Would be willing to group order from WA/ID and surrounding areas to save on shipping. Let me know.
  4. Put me down for two coins as well.
  5. Having crossed Kansas several times I would say the coin HAS to be flat with one tree and one house. We were going to Oklahoma City for our daughters wedding and we had a friend of our other daughter with us who had never been outside of Washington/Idaho. She fell asleep as we left Denver and woke up hours later...she looked around and said.."nothing has changed...it is still flat". We all laughed. Put me down for 2 or 3.
  6. Cacher Woodacorn, who dropped it off, drove 40 miles yesterday to check the cache and the log to see if he could see what happened. Talk about dedication to the hobby and concern for a TB.... True, it has only been a few days since it went MIA...but I am concerned because of my daughter. You don't know how this will crush her if it doesn't make it home. Everything that can go wrong with her usually does...but to her credit...she always has a smile on her face. She doesn't let the black cloud get her down. So if you can hear me Disney Bound...please come home...we are looking for you....
  7. My TB Disney Bound just went missing. A cacher picked it up and placed it in "I-70 Stop-n-Stretch". I e-mailed everyone that visited the cache and logged in and nobody saw it. The cacher who placed the cache drove 40 miles to check on it and sure enough...gone ...I'm hoping it will turn up again....someday...soon. My daughter is going to be totally upset if it doesn't.
  8. Oh where oh where is my Disney Bound Travel Bug oh where oh where could it be? It was dropped off at "I-70 Stop-n-Stretch" and hasn't been seen since. Help me find it please..... Why does everything bad happen to my daughter Booger Bear? She seems to always have a dark cloud overhead. She will be totally dissappointed when I tell her....
  9. Thanks! I will! Correction....look on the bottom of the cache pages you have placed. I thought it was on all cache pages but it is not... Sorry about that.
  10. This comes from the tutorial on "Hiding Your First Cache" "Will it be on private or public land? - If you place it on private land, please ask permission before putting it there! If you place the cache on public lands you need to contact the managing agency to find out about their rules. You will be in violation of federal regulation by placing a cache in any area administered by the National Park Service (US). The National Park regulations are intended to protect the fragile environment, and historical and cultural areas found in the parks."
  11. What's a local approver? I haven't seen this yet. Thanks, The volunteer cachers who approve the caches in your area. You can look at the bottom of the cache pages in your area to see who they are.
  12. Yes, you need to get the owners permission if you are going to place it on private property. We have a town close by (don't want to give it away) with no caches. I e-mailed the tourist board, explained to them geocaching, gave them web addresses to cities that promote geocaching by having a page dedicated to showing the caches in their area, and explained what I wanted to do. The idea was presented at a city meeting and I received permission to cache their city. Boy...that was easy... I went this way because of where I want to place the caches. I haven't read the cache hiding policy lately but I think it states that if the area is open to the public...like a parking lot (not promoting a parking lot cache in anyway ) then it is okay to place it there.
  13. 13 white bumps. Hmmm... Any redness around the bumps? Did they ooze any fluid for a day or two? It sounds like you may have gotten into some chiggers or possibly a single tick that clamped down in 13 spots. Actually they did ooze green gunk that eventually turned to blood and my arm has red streaks shooting up it...not to mention it is beginning to smell really bad. Maybe Nurse Dave does know what he is talking about. It is a good thing that I am givng him all of my geocaching items so he can carry on my dreams.... by the way...I am just kidding, my arm is fine
  14. Sure Nurse Dave....is it alright if I give you all of my caches to maintain, my PDA, my geocoins, and my backpack? Doesn't sound like I will be needing them anymore where I'm going......
  15. Please check out my cache Gone But Not Forgotten This is a place only cache (no item trading) dedicated to remembering those who are gone but not forgotten from our lives. Read the posts, everyone likes the idea and the memories.
  16. Thanks to everyone for your help. I don't think it was poison ivy because it didn't itch or spread. I just had the 13 or so white bumps. My wife popped them (I couldn't reach them) and they went away. I am guessing, from your posts, that it might have been poison oak. I think I got into it at the cache "Popeye the Sailor Man" in Albany, GA. The owner posted a warning about poisionous plants for the cache...of course I didn't see that until I was back home.
  17. DNF are a part of the hobby. Not a good part but a part nun-the-less. Always be aware of what size container you are searching for. Size does matter. This helps in focusing your search to an area that will hide that size cache. It takes a lot of cover to hide a regular size ammo can. A micro (depending on the size) can be anywhere. If they are nice they might tell you what size micro (bison tube, waterproof match container, pill bottle) you are searching for. This again helps to narrow your search area....maybe. We all have DNF...the ones that nag at me are the 1/1 where somebody will log "little six year old Suzie walked right up to it..." and I spend 30 minutes and still can't find it. Happy Hunting...
  18. Welcome to the time consuming addicting hobby. Another way is to go the geocaching's home page. Select your state in the top right hand corner of the page. At the top of the next page, beside the state name, click map. This will display your states map and all of the caches. Zoom in and in and in on your city. There is not a lot of detail to this map but you will get a good bird's eye view of where all the caches are located in your city. Select Identify and then click on a cache. The names will appear on the map and a hyperlink will appear below the map. Select a cache that looks like it is close to a park and then select map for that particular cache. This will give you a more detailed map showing you exactly where the cache is located. This map will also show you any other nearby caches. Again you can click Identify and view their names. I use this technique whenever I am traveling to a different area or to locate caches along a highway. Enjoy the hunt.
  19. This is another variation of picture caches, P is for Picture Perfect The coords take you to the first picture, you then look around for picture #2. You walk to that spot and look for #3 and so on and so on until you find the last picture and the cache. It was a fun and interesting cache hunt. My wife was with me and found most of the waypoints.
  20. First you need to check to see what the travel plans for that Travel Bug are. You don't want to take it to Europe if it is wanting to go to Washington or if it is on it's last leg to getting home. I have a TB whose journey was to go to Disney Land and Disney World and then come back home. It has met it's two goals and it is only four or five states from making it back home. It would tick me off for the Bug to be left in Europe when it is so close to being home. Now if they took the Bug to Disney Europe and got some more Disney Character signatures and then brought it back home would be wonderful. So be sure to check the goal of the TB before you buy it a passport.
  21. Thanks Sissy for all of your hard work and dedication in taking on this mammoth work. I received my 2 coins today in perfect condition, zip 99212. Thanks again Washington Red Bear
  22. I will have to disagree with your "or bookmark list" statement. I did create three bookmark lists that includes all 225 of my finds. I am guessing that 76 are now archieved and that is the reason they won't load into GSAK. Thanks for the idea on loading them manually and how to use GSAK for my logs. I will have to give that a try. Washington Red Bear
  23. That might be the problem (without going back and looking at 225 cache pages) I looked at the bookmark of 25 and 1 is archived. Is there a way to bring archived caches over? Am I missing a check box or filter somewhere? Thanks
  24. I created three bookmark files of the caches I have found. My idea is to generate a USA map showing those cache locations. I saved the three LOC files to my computer and used GSAK to create a database with all of the caches. Problem is GSAK only loaded 149 out of 225 caches. It loaded 55 out of 100 on the first, 70/100 on the second and 24/25 on the third. Why is GSAK not loading all of the waypoints? Is the problem in the database? Are only 149 of the 225 being created into the LOC file? How can I tell? Any help is appreciated.
  25. I cached in S. Georgia and S. Alabama over the Memorial Day weekend. I was able to squeeze in 10 caches between the family reunion, sightseeing, and visits. I found the last cache, Popeye the Sailor Man, Sunday night, in Albany Ga, just as it was getting dark. Tueday morning at work I noticed some white bumps on the forearm of my left arm. I looked it over and had a dozen of clustered white bumps. I went to the cache page of my last find and it has a warning sign for poison plants. Looks like I might have found some poison oak while plowing through the brush. Lesson learned.
