  1. The Mobius Science Center in downtown Spokane, WA will be having a geocaching lab on August 19th (Mobius members only event). Members of TeamObbie1 just recently befriended the science projects developer, Scott, and he mentioned that he has to learn all about geocaching in a month. He had no idea that he was talking to 10 year veterans of the game! Mobius is a nonprofit organization with a mission to, " To create innovative experiences that equip and inspire creative problem solvers of all ages." From <http://mobiusspokane.org/mobius-science-center> TeamObbie1 (Dave & Lori) offered to contact the various local geocaching organizations to see if area cachers would be willing to contribute SWAG and/or items for display and/or presentation(s). Please check out their web site at mobiusspokane.org or call Scott Rademacher below: srademacher@mobiusspokane.org Location: Across from Riverfront Park 331 N Post St, Spokane, WA 99201 Mailing Address: 808 W Main Ave, LL015 Spokane, WA 99201 P: 509.321.7133 TeamObbie1 will be teaching Scott some of the ropes and I am sure he would appreciate any tips cachers may have. We are actually planning a trip to Seattle (Groundspeak HQ is on the agenda) that weekend or we would volunteer to help out. Maybe there are cachers who could volunteer? http://mobiusspokane.org/mobius-science-center/about

  6. I can't believe that it is 27 days until the event! Have you signed up yet? GC1MPYN. Details are also available at www.dirtstumpy.com. Be sure to check out the geocaching themed groom's cake!
  7. GC1MPYN The Plan: Participants will mill around the Reston Town Center, Virginia as if they are casual shoppers then, at exactly noon, the bride and groom will descend the fountain steps and meet in front of the fountain. Only at that point will the guests converge behind the bridal party. We will say our vows, there will be some crowd participation, and then all will quickly disperse. The reception will be immediately following at a very near-by park pavilion. See dirtstumpy.com for more details. In order to log this cache you must bring HANDMADE wedding cards only - be creative and personalize them. There will be an attendant with a basket to collect them.
  8. Event for Tri-state area of West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland GC1EDWY Go tubing near Harpers Ferry on the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers! Celebrate the last days of summer and join Lori (TeamObbie1) for her 40th birthday! There are many businesses along the rivers that offer tubing, whitewater rafting, canoeing, and duckies inflatable kayak rentals) on the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers in the Tri-state area of West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland. I would love to see geocachers from each of those states participate! Please feel free to compare the different outfitters and use the one the fits your needs. We are meeting at GCKGTF at noon. Most outfitters provide the tube, life jacket, and shuttle to and from the river. The river provides the fun! Bring a cooler or rent one and share a picnic on the water. Bring your own cooler and rent a cooler tube to float your drinks at your side. Advance reservations are suggested! Look for the birthday card for Lori (TeamObbie1) at the meeting location. That will be our log book for this event. Ask TeamObbie1 for a PathTag especially created for this occasion. Please bring waterproof cameras and take a lot of pictures!
  9. Up here in Northern Virginia we have a HUGE problem with people breaking into cars for GPS units. (Storing a GPSr in the car is a whole different issue.) The problem I see is some very clever criminals figuring out that there MAY be a GPSr in the cars with geocaching plates - whether there is one or not they will "look".
