They might indeed lurk, I just think the odds are better of you get in their face.
I know for sure that they lurk.

Barometric pressure is one aspect, the difference between elevation in the WGS84 reference ellipsoid and the elevation in the geoid is another. The elevation shown in most places compensates for that difference.

IMHO this is not an option at all.
I agree that it's just an ugly kludge, a workaround, and not a solution.

I have an eTrex 10 as well and have both GLONASS and GPS enabled and accuracy is normally around 3 meters.
Haven't tried running either by themselves but using both apparently improves accuracy.
Perhaps accuracy for your unit, but what about the unit used to hide the geocache?
To my line of thinking, the advantage would be in creating cache placements, not in finding them.
That doesn't make sense. If you take a GPS receiver with only +-30 meters of accuracy, would you think it's easier to find caches? Or would it be the same?
Or would it be harder? Cause if it's harder, then improved accuracy would make it easier. That holds true even if it's beyond the accuracy of the cache coordinates.

That's exactly what I do with my own scripts. The ability to pull corrected coordinates into a PQ is rather useless without some way of marking the listing as such.

Yep, I have on numerous trips done side by side comparisons ... seen no perceivable difference with WAAS/EGNOS on so it stays off.
The thing is that it's pretty much impossible to get a real side by side comparison, as it takes a while for the EGNOS to kick in, and until that has happened the GPS readings will already have changed. For a proper comparison, you'd have to do it within the same unit at the same time, which isn't possible. Simply enabling EGNOS doesn't do anything by itself, you also need an EGNOS lock to potentially see any difference.
The most noticeable difference for me is that with WAAS enabled, the lowest accuracy reading I get is 2 meters, while it's 3 meters with WAAS disabled.
Difficult to measure battery drain but logic says if the processors working harder it must have some effectNot necessary. Old CPUs had always the same power consumption, whether they were idle or fully loaded. But I tried to measure it here:
(the WAAS part starts at around 8:00)
Within the limited precision of my cheapo multimeter, there was no measurable difference. I don't know about you, but I take higher coordinate accuracy over a few minutes of battery life gained any day.

The current problem is described here: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=288981
(the promised hotfix didn't happen)
In short, cache pages are in unicode, but the edit page entry box doesn't accept UTF-8. The workaround is to encode the unicode characters as HTML entities, but with the broken HTML validator you have to encode them thrice.

YES!

I, too, find it odd that this is always a discussion about PMO caches and never a discussion about pocket queries or caches along a route - the top two reasons I pay for a premium membership.
That's because you pay your membership fees to Groundspeak, and CAAR is a feature provided by Groundspeak. PMO caches are not a feature provided by Groundspeak, and those who do provide it don't get any money from your membership fees. I can perfectly understand the controversy behind giving somebody access to something only when they pay somebody else for something else.

There are unwritten rules in every place, including here. People think everyone should follow them. For example, when you find a cache, it's common sense not to break the container or throw it in the garbage. When such things happen, people get angry. Right?
It's nice that you so blindly trust and obey authority. I don't.
-
No. There are still rules. And if they don't like something, isn't it either against the rules or against common sense?
If their are no rules, then it means one can do anything they like without consequence. Is this true right now?
No, it means that they can do anything they like without consequence. Which obviously is true. Who's gonna ban the banners?
If someone gets banned, is it the banners fault? I doubt that they even want to ban people.
That depends. I don't know. They could just delete all those posts here that we've just made. They could say it's off-topic and that's why they got deleted. You don't think it is, and I don't think it is, but what are you gonna do about it?

GeoLobo, what's wrong with that? We do need rules, don't we? Your interpretations of the guidelines maynot be necessarily right.
And neither may be their interpretation. But of course it's them who make the rules, so back to square one.
They made the rules, they decide how to interpret them. The rules just didn't appear out of nowhere.
Which was exactly my point. They don't like something, they can do whatever they want. They could make a new rule first, but why even bother? In effect, it means that there are no rules.

For context I should have started with, "We created this playground for you to play in. We do want you here; we do want your contributions."
... as long as you like what we're saying. Right?
-
What? No hotfix for such a serious issue?
-
And it seems that there are posts that are being removed that are not in violation of the guidelines of the forums. If they are violations, it would be helpful to know why they are violations.
...
The forums are also being so strictly moderated that it is hard to know what is considered acceptable these days.
There's your problem. The "forum guidelines" can be interpreted to mean anything. Someone doesn't like your post? Well, let's just pick any random guideline and say it violates that. Maybe it was insulting or disrespectful? Or maybe it was just off topic? Who are you to argue against that?
-
You're not crazy. This forum is and has always been heavily over-moderated.
(Come to think of it, I don't even think "moderation" is the right word for what's going on here...)

EGNOS is the EU equivalent of WAAS, it's available on the 20 although I've never seen any real benefit so have it switched off
Not a good choice. EGNOS does provide benefits, even though they might not be obvious at first. Plus, having it on doesn't have any negative effects.

Remember Internet Time? And how well it got adopted?
-
Yeah, Groundspeak doesn't send texts or any other notifications. It only sends emails. And emails are emails, it ain't twitter. You should be looking in your email client or relay or w/e for that feature.
-
Yup, had it happen before, specifically right after running a PQ for another area - the distance shown for each cache was then the distance to the center point of that PQ, just like you say.
I also have the distance disappear completely from time to time, together with my avatar in the top right corner. I've reported both long time ago, but so far, no fix. Only the usual suggestion of logging out and back in and/or clearing the cookies.
As for your second question: It's because that column would normally show the distance and bearing to the center point of the search, but since there is none in a state/country based search, it's empty.

The current problem is already explained elsewhere. You have to use unicode HTML entities, such as & #261; (without the space) for the letter ą. However, the HTML validator is currently screwed up, and you have to enter the entity as &ą instead, and make sure you save/submit it only once (it will get messed up again if you save more than once).
So far, the problem has been barely acknowledged let alone fixed, despite the fact that it allows you to inject unallowed HTML code into your listings...
-
Would you be able to please provide the code to lose the "Your Unpublished Disabled Caches" list?
Unfortunately that section isn't enclosed in any modern structural HTML blocks that would make it possible to hide it...
GLONASS or GPS?
in How do I...?

And I'm saying: yes it does.
