  1. SUCCESS! I tried deleting all of the POI's and staring from scratch. I deleted everything in the POI folder and GPX folder, took out the SD card. Turned on the GPS and the old Geocaches were still on the screen. I tried using the POI loader to "remove all custom POIs" and had the same result. Finally, thought of a factory reset on the devise. That go rid of them. Next step was to get the new pocket query into the Nuvi. I used the POI Loader and that brought them in. unfortunately (like complaints I saw in other posts) they didn't show on the screen until you zoomed all the way into ground level. Not very functional and also, the icon was just a little BB on the screen. Probably wouldn't see in when it was mounted on the windshield. Next step was to remove those. now, how easy it was... all I had to do was copy the GPX files out of the Pocket Query and paste them right into the QPX folder on the Nuvi hard disk. No need for the SD card since a PQ is maxed out at 1,000 caches and that used up hardly any space. wish I could attach a screen shot, but the caches show up as giant orange treasure chests on my screen when zoomed into at least 1.2 miles. I hope this helps anyone with the same issue. All it took was a reset. Wish I thought of that about 7 years ago.
  2. I have an old Auto GPS, Garmin Nuvi 255W. I had relative luck about 6 years ago with this but am getting back into geocaching and running into problems. I've searched for this for the last week and found similar questions dating back to 2008 but none seemed to be my specific question and I don't know if any of those responses are outdated. I want to see geocaches on my screen while I am driving to see if a short detour may lead to a cache while driving. I do not want to cache with the Nuvi, I have handhelds for that. With what luck I have had, some of them show up as little treasure chests on my screen while I am driving. my brain is wired to take direct, step by step directions. if anyone can help. so far I have tried to download directly to the GPX folder and the POI folder on both the devise and the SD card. I have also tried doing that with the Garmin POI loader. it says I have successfully downloaded 1,000+ files. but I can only see a quarter of the results on the screen (northeast). at one point I turned it on and only saw the results for the northwest. I cant attach the image that I have but if you picture the big circle of caches you get when you run a pocket query, I am only seeing one quarter of that pie. I also still have a lot of available memory on the devise, so I know that isn't the issue. I've never been asked if the devise wants me to read from the SD card (ive seen this on other forums). does my SD card need something done to it to be read? I saw something about a FAT32 Format??? right now I just have the blank card with a "GPX" and "POI" folder that I created.
  3. We have a TB sticker on my wifes minivan. She is no longer into caching so I take my car. I want to put the "back up" sticker on my car. Since this type of TB isn't designed for tracking milage, I dont see the harm in having the same # on both vehicles. I would of course mentioned this in the description and ask any loggers to mention which one they found. I know this is taboo for traditional TB's so I am still hesitant.
  4. it would have to logged as "discovered". if "found" then that cacher would have it listed in their inventory and would be expected to "drop" it off at another cache. we have one on my wifes minivan. it was spotted on some interstate in GA while on vacation (we live in NY). it was also spotted in the Walmart parking lot. now im wondering... my wife no longer caches so i take my car. i want to put the "back up" sticker on my car. since this type of TB isn't designed for tracking milage, i dont see the harm in having the same # on both vehicles. I would of course mentioned this in the description and ask any loggers to mention while one they found. I know this is taboo for traditional TB's so i am still hesitant.
  5. I am looking for cachers from Australia, Spain, France, UK, (elsewhere?) to set up a TB & Coin exchange. I can fill you in on the details if your interested but don't want to give away to much here .
  6. Is that the same cache? If so I'd think twice about standing that close to that side of the cache. yessir, found that one while on vaca in GA
  7. this was one of our favorites <<image removed by request>>
  8. You know, I have CA on that computer too. Will have to try that.thanks
  9. Ok, This has worked before but not regularly. I'm not sure what is wrong. I'm certain one part is a setting on my computer. No matter if I select to have the query sent as a GPX or a LOC file, it comes zipped and opens as a EFW file. Which I can't use. I think changing the extension to GPX or ZIP may have worked once or twice before, but it isnt now. Here is what I think is a settings issue: I can not save the zipped file as a zipped file from my email, whether from my hotmail or home address. While on vacation, I used to relatives computer and was able to save the zip file from the email as a zip file to the desktop and open it with EasyGPS from there. TIA

    Map Request

Im still learning here so if this can already be done... I would like to be able to view (pick and choose) caches on the map. Choose only caches by a certain user, this would be expecially nice for multis that expand a wide area. You could zoom far out without hitting the 500 limit on the map.
