  1. That actually didn't happen and Vespax and I ended up doing a couple of caches while he was here. Think there's a possibility for Baviaans in the Dec/Jan holidays.
  2. Spent Saturday night at Homestead and all I can say is you will not be disapointed.
  3. I tried all sorts of programs but the best (quickest, least hassle) option for me was to export the cache info from GSAK in html format, copy to pda and read with the pda web browser. Premium membership really comes to life with GSAK. Hi Jors Just had sucess with my pocket query to my PDA and all the info is there. I have setup a query to run once a week and this morning's e-mail had the .gpx file attached, copied the file to my PDA and ran CacheMate and all the info I am looking for is on it. Great stuff - no more bits of paper that will get blown away
  4. Hi Neville Joy and celebration - I have CacheMate on my PDA and registered. Downloaded a .loc file using my new Premiun membership (Bragging a bit) and managed to get it onto the PDA and opened it with CacheMate. However not everything I'm looking for is there. CacheMate gives me the co-ords, cache number and description with no hint or logs. What am I missing in the download of the pocket query or is it something with CacheMate?
  5. Thanks guys - all I need to do now is to figure out how they actually work and then get it onto the PDA.
  6. Hi Neville Membership came through - would you believe automatically. Great, now for the next learning curve :-)
  7. Hi Neville Did the deed - but still no validation code to register. Does this normally take so long?
  8. Thanks Neville - am about to give it a go.
  9. Jees Neville - thanks for that quicj reply. OK now the big question, how do I go about it. Copy the file to the phone and run it there or do I install on the PC first?
  10. Hi All I have just aquired a PDA/Phone combo (I think the term would be Smartphone) and would very much like to purchase CacheMate. This after seeing CacheMate at work, what a bonus having cellphone and PDA in one. However not being on the top of all the technology around I am a bit scared of just going ahead with the install. My phone is a HTC 3400 and is using Windows Mobile version 5. Are there any pitfalls or will the Palm OS version work with Windows? Desperately awaiting some 'brainy' input on this.
  11. Guess where we'll be going one of these weekends - be able to nail those Addo caches as well. Bonus.
  12. Thanks, I have made a reservation at Homestead Caravan Park in Addo. I trust its OK!! Let me know - always looking for new sites, and that one's close enough for a 1 day camp.
  13. Try this for sites in the P.E. area. http://www.campsa.co.za/ or http://www.ecparks.co.za/
  14. I am pretty sure all the coastal sites will be booked. I'll check around and if I see something I'll post here. Caravan or tent? Love to hook up with you guys at Komdomo.
  15. Hi iNokia Missed the PPC, Spekboom and Zuurkop - didn't know they were there. Saw the elephants of course and a real bummer about the lions which we missed. We left on 23rd which is probably why we missed you. Ah well - next time.
  16. Give me a shout mid December. Keen to meet up with other cachers. Some great caches around and Addo Elephant park is a great day trip with 2 caches. I believe there are now 5 caches inside the park. + one just out side. Missed you over the Heritage weekend - pity. How new are the other caches in Addo? Bummer that we missed those.
  17. How about Addo on 2 January 2008 then, before Geoff goes to Baviaanskloof. It would have been great to meet up in Baviaanskloof Geoff, we have been then several times before and it is one of our favourite places. We will unfortunately have our caravan with us this time, so would not like to go further than Kondomo with it. Roll on HOLIDAYS !!!!!!! Well - we'll be camping at Komdomo 4th, 5th and 6th Jan, so maybe a visit will be in order
  18. Hi Guys We are doing Baviaanskloof 4 to 7 Jan 2008. It'll be great to meet up if possible.
  19. Give me a shout mid December. Keen to meet up with other cachers. Some great caches around and Addo Elephant park is a great day trip with 2 caches.
  20. No idea. Have not met cachers as yet and by the way it's going you're going to be the first. Missed a couple of fellow cachers at Addo.
  21. Looks like it's just you and me
  22. Believe they do a pretty good breakfast out there.
  23. 21st sounds great. GC106F1 sounds like a nice outing down the coast?

    GPS

Hi Neville Hope you got a 60 that's full title is GPSMap 60 or better still GPSMap 60CSX. Only the Garmin units that have Map in it's model number (with the exception of the Vista and Legend) can take maps. If it is a 60CSX then with a 1 GB SD card you'll be able to load the Topo maps as well as the streetmaps.
  25. I certainly am - I have an idea for a cache as well. Send me a PM and we can swop cell numbers.
