  1. Having looked at both Google Maps and Google Earth, the coordinates appear to be in the middle of the road junction between Bayswater Road and Leinster Terrace...which doesn't really help. You stated that the micro was attached to a railing - would that be a railing along the edge of the Royal Park, and therefore within the area the RPA have banned caching? That would be my conclusion based on the information you have given. If that is the case, then the reviewer would have had no choice but to disable the cache. You archived all your caches with no notice in a fit of pique. You should have the decency to do this, especially since you will presumably be spending the weekend collecting in all your caches... It is a shame that a well known and respected cacher like yourself should have chosen to take out your frustration with the Royal Parks situation by making offensive comments about one of the reviewers. It is tragic that you now seem intent on alienating and threatening everyone for no real reason that I can see, other than a desire to spread the hurt and anger you are currently feeling. I hope that someone else can take on the mantle of Tinkerbell so that the Peter Pan series can continue. I hope things change once you have properly calmed down and wish you all the best, Mike
  2. But what about all those cache owners who apprently believe that a micro in a hedge or ICT is a cunning hide?
  3. This link here should help! Mike
  4. Oh! But isn't the Office of the Public Guardian an organisation that helps people with dementia write wills and stuff? What information would they have about geocaching in the Royal Parks? Sorry to be so dim/gullible or whatever but I'm feeling decidedly today! Mike
  5. Ummm. You are joking aren't you? sorry if I'm being a bit dim - I've got a lousy cold... Mike
  6. I'd say no - it sounds like a puzzle/mystery cache with a difficulty of 2 since the only difficulty is getting to the courthouse when it is open and finding the correct person to ask (oh, and remembering to return the key afterwards!). I must say that I'm impresed that they would allow people to have access to the key in order to go geocaching - can't see that happening around here! Mike
  7. Although GC.com don't specify a minimum age, the registration process involves the collection of (a small amount) personal data (name, email address etc.) It would therefore appear that under US law (which applies to GC.com as it is based in Seattle), a minor should be at least 13 to have their own account, or have a legal guardian give express written permission - see the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act for details. Mike
  8. Newport, Newport - so good ( ) they named it twice! Mike
  9. There's one on the Google toolbar IE add-on, which I use when I'm at home. Mike
  10. Eble ni uzus Esperanton por niaj geocache priskriboj? Mike
  11. ...which is why the cache is outside the boundary of the airport.
  12. Details of the events planned so far are here Mike
  13. The norm seems to be to relog (on the original date) with a note saying "found as part of #### and now relogging under my own ID" or something of that ilk. Mike
  14. Sorry, but you cannot normally submit a listing until/unless the cache is in place. From the guidelines (see here); "Your cache should be in place and ready to hunt at the time your cache page is submitted for review. If for any reason it is not ready, please either disable your cache page so that it won’t be seen by the reviewer until ready, or include a "note to reviewer" to explain your special circumstances (for example, waiting for a permit from a land manager)." What you can do in the meantime is prepare the listing without submiiting it (i.e ensure that the "Yes, this listing is active " checkbox isn't selected Mike
  15. I'd really (REALLY!) like to have a go at this one before its gone. Would anyone care to join me (or to let me join in with them!) on Sunday (20 Sept) as I'm busy doing family stuff on saturday... Mike
  16. The cache owner made the cache Temporarily Unavailable (i.e. inactive) on September 27, 2008 for some reason.. The cache owner did not reactivate the cache. The reviewer posted a note on May 27 this year (eight months after the cache was made Temporarily Unavailable and, having received no response, archived the cache on August 2. The CO appears to have not followed the guidelines for maintenance and the reviewer had no option but to archive the cache. An inactive cache (and most archived caches) can still be found, as this one was. It is unclear from the logs why the cache owner made the cache Temporarily Unavailable as nothing appears to be wrong with it, but that is not an issue the reviewer has the remit to consider. No need for fishy smells or conspiricy theories! Mike
  17. When you clean and proof your boots (Nikwax is good) make sure to take the laces out and do the soft leather 'tabs' that join the tongue to the sides of the boot where the laces go. Personally, I like my Lowa Mountain boots - tough as nails and you proof them with black boot polish (and occasionally all sorts of posh creams)
  18. Were there opening instructions on the ammo box? If not you could always sue.... Being serious for a moment, I'm not looking for liability insurance or medical cover per se, I'm more interested in something in case I do sunfink stoopid and end up unable to work for an extended period of time. Mike
  19. I've had a look at their website and they list a whole range of specific activities that are covered but caching isn't - do you know if it counted as hill/fellwalking or have you had it included? Mike
  20. The code GC1CHVY either doesn't exist or has not yet been published. This means that either you made a mistake on the GC number or else the cache has been 'unpublished', which I think (but I'm not sure) can sometimes happen if there is a problem with the cache (such as the cache being published too early, or by mistake). Mike
