  1. So which cache are we talking about here? If it is "Come Fly Away" I can't see where you are coming from as several people commented that that the cache location was a little 'visible' before the cache went missing and the nearest cache seems to be about 400m away and owned by someone who hasn't found "Come Fly Away".... Or have I gotten it wrong again?
  2. Patent Examiner. Don't think I could handle a proper job...
  3. Palm M515. Use it for keeping logs on Cachemate £10 off eBay.
  4. Here in Britain, we'd probably just sympathise with him for having such a small knob... edited for my pre-coffee, typing with bannanas fingers...
  5. Wow! 100 caches in 14 hrs 46 mins is 8.86 minutes per cache. How did you do it? Were they all new caches or did you already know where some were? How many were multis? Once again, Wow!
  6. Hi all. We're figuring that it is about time we placed a cache or two so we were wondering; 1) what do you think makes a good cache? 2) what don't you like in a cache? We've found that we like caches that are either in an unusual location or that teach you about the area (such as the Caerphilly Collection series or the Wye Vallley Ghost Train cache). We don't really like caches that don't provide at least some advice on where to park or that seem to have been placed more at less randomly. Any advice that you can provide on some dos and donts would be great. Helen & Mike
  7. We have two FTFs so far, from two attempts. One was in the dark at 2AM on a saturday night (guess that makes us sad but it was really, really fun and we were awake watching baseball anyway!) after we noticed it on the PC. Another was a mad dash after work one weekday evening, again after we noticed it on the PC. Both were fairly close to home and both were made all the more fun becuase we were hoping to beat a local FTFer who "sniffs " most (or waht feels like nearly all) of the new caches in SE Wales. In both instances our 'achievement' was made all the sweeter for 'beating' our friendly local shark . Of course, we probably only managed it because he was on holiday or something...
  8. http://gpstracklog.typepad.com/gps_tracklo...a_lifts_ba.html GPS now appears legal, but I wouldn't flash it around just in case. Wish I'd known about Geocaching when I went to Moscow edited for speeling!
  9. Trousers with drawstings at the ankles (so making two bags) http://www.britishmilitarysurplus.co.uk/is.../shopscr12.html Not bad for £4!
  10. Drawstring bags in DPM camo, sets of three (1 large, 2 small); http://www.springfields.co.uk/product_info...29b515dc94de805 Would they be any use? I've used Springfield's before and they are pretty good. Mike
  11. It depends on what kind of activity you want it for; If you're going to be walking mainly on trails then any breathable waterproof should do and the only limit is howmuch you can/want to pay (Columbia are good, as are Mountain Corp and I think both are avalable in the US). If you are going 'off road' and will be ploughing through woods/trees/brambles/rocks or using a 'real' campfire then PTFE based waterprooofs aren't very durable (they puncture/tear/abrade too easily imo) and you have 2 choices. Either buy the cheapest manmade you can find and keep replacing every time or pay through the nose for a Ventile jacket (a naturally waterproof cotton that is VERY hard wearing and durable, but which does get heavier as it gets wet). For more info see http://www.snowsled.com/clothing/clothing_classicsmock.htm or http://www.west-winds.net/ Hope that helps! Mike
  12. Its gone again! Personaly, I prefer the new map. Here's hoping it sticks next time
  13. While in London you could try the 'All aboard the Hogwarts Express' cache - GCNR55 as it would probably be good fun for your non-caching friends... Mike
  14. Surely the point of adjusting your compass for declination is so that you don't need to adjust the map....
