Well, it's an interesting achievement nonetheless. With over 2000 total finds we so far only found 20 on a day. We considered doing a challenge that required you do find 50 mysteries on a day, but the trains out to a good location for that weren't going all summer and we could not take our bikes on the buses the railway company offered during that time.

Just out of interest: how many logs are there containing just a . (dot) or no text at all? This is actually what I see more often.

I was just thinking the same. It would certainly add a bit of extra information for the inexperienced. Another thing I'd like to see is a different text in the find log field, something that explains that it would be nice if the cacher is encouraged to log his experience at finding this cache instead of a standard "Found. TFTC"

Hmm.. we have other things we run on those batteries: a vista hcx, digital camera and a few other things. The batteries last long as they're supposed to do. They only drain quickly in the Oregon.

Hmm.. actually I need to check if I disabled the maps at all. Maybe that's the reason. Do they drain energy when they are activated but not used? These maps (part of Turkey, Faroer) are not covered by the European map. But I'm not in that area either anymore. Yes, apart from the maps I always tidy up my gps: delete caches and waypoints, tracks, and routes if used.

Hi all, I know that the Oregon 450 uses quite a bit of battery power. Still I could usually cache quite long on one set of batteries. Recently it seems like the batteries (eneloops, charger tells me they are still good) drain far too quickly. We did 5 caches along a 5km cycle route yesterday. When I switched on the GPS I still had two bars. The first cache was a Chirp, so I enabled that function and searched for 5 minutes, then switched it off again. Only had 1 bar left. Before the last cache I got messages that the batteries need replacement. Btw, I exchanged them on the previous, equally short caching trip! Energy saving is on, light off, all I don't need off (chirp, Wherigo), right type of battery selected, map detail: 'less' I use the old Garmin European map I only noticed a similar large drain before when using an open street map on 'most' detail (small roads only show on 'most' detail on the zoom lvl I need for driving by car) and light on max. Will deleting unused maps bring back better battery life? What else could I do? Anyone noticed something similar? Mrs. terratin

Wow, cool stuff! I'd really love to get one of those printers! Whatever you do, just don't make it look like hand grenades and other weapons. I was just thinking about wildlife, but I guess a Moose is a bit over the top, and interesting smaller animals in Canada? Not sure... Mushrooms with unscrew-able hats?

Not a problem there, but for some reason my iPhone app doesn't get a better accuracy than 65m now It looks like I'm stuck on one set of coordinates. Mind you, it's a different coordinate around this one 65m accuracy point I'm getting stuck on every time. It looks like the app connects to the GPS, accepts the first bit of data it receives and goes to sleep. When I move around I need a substantial distance from my original point until something happens.

We did something similar in Lisbon. Worked out marvelously. The only annoying bit was that we had to take everything electronic out of our bags at the security check, not just a notebook. It looks like they started doing that in Copenhagen as well now

Should be more than sufficient time, BBW. You probably arrive at Terminal 2 and leave there again, unless you fly with SAS (Terminal 3). It should take about 10 minutes to walk from the gate to the exit, and a similar time back, plus another 10-15 minutes for customs control.

You can also go to project-gc.com On that website somewhere you can authorize access to your profile and it will generate he badgegen stats for you. It's a geocaching live partner, thus it's probably not a problem to use them.

I rather go for the special cache than for the masses. If there's something interesting to see, or the cache has a creative hide, or it's an EarthCache, an interesting challenge or a webcam/Virtual then I don't mind doing a significant detour. After a family visit we drove back to the airport not in the usual 2 hours, but in 3.5 hours (ok, it included some mild traffic jams) yesterday. For that we 'only' got a Virtual and a cache from 2001. And wet feet, which were slowly drying on the plane

I found a cache next to the letterbox as well. It's really far from ideal. Even though the cache owner writes that the black container is not the cache, people log it all the time, and through trackables inside. I would say no. There are other nice places.

Rushing to Sweden: I've never done that to be honest and I don't know how often the trains go. I think I don't have the nerves for that, though it probably works, time-wise. Keep in mind though that you have to get through customs again at the airport. Usually that means about 10 minutes queuing, but can take longer or shorter.

Cheers If you take the metro you'll most likely end up on Kongens Nytorv. It's not too far from there, but with such a short stop some simpler caches might be better. I would probably report a buried cache. People will copy what they see, and when someone thinks pushing a film canister into the ground is ok, then the next will dig a hole for a lock'n'lock, the next will take a bucket. There was a story a while ago that a deer with a broken leg was found. Nearby, the forest guardian found a rather large buried cache of the type with wooden boards on the sides, with a broken cover most likely from the deer stepping on it. Thanks a lot, all! Good to see that there are longer tourist caches around, and that they do get found every now and then. My own is coming along nicely now, since I gave up trying to be really short with the text. Hopefully it will be ready this weekend.

Thanks a lot! I'm currently working on one similar to those two. I mostly finished the text today - and then I started to doubt whether it's too much text (well, certainly not compared to the first up here) and if people will find the instructions within the text. I need to put it on my gps to test if all text is displayed, but it's encouraging to see those - and all the others posted as well. There certainly is a lot to see, and nice views as well. That's why I started this thing in the first place.
