  1. There are some 'great' examples of 'finds' in this thread; this one is right there at the top... A bit of cache history: Published in March 2010 followed by a steady list of finds and the occasional DNF. From May 2011 onward a series of DNF's, a few Needs Maintenance logs and in August 2013 someone finally posts a Needs Archive. The reviewer reacts, gives the CO 30 days to fix the cache and -due to lack of response from the CO- archives the cache in September. Found it 3 Dec 2013 Came down to the [...] area, and accidentally stumbled upon his archived cache. Curious whether it can still be done, I checked out the GZ and indeed the cache is not to be found. It is a shame that this lovely region lacked a cache, so I am trying my luck out and hoping that the CO will see this log and re-enable it, as there is now a container to be found in the exact same spot. I hope to be able to publish an EC in this region, so this cache will be an extra incentive for visitors to cache here. TFTC! And to top it off: this cache is hidden in a dry stone wall, which is never a good idea, as one of the DNF logs shows "...had plenty of time to look and pull every last rock from that wall." Mr. Terratin
  2. Auf meinem iphone gehts auf jeden Fall, auch wenn die Karten nicht angezeigt werden. Aber die sind eh Flash, was ja auf Apples nicht geht.
  3. Ok, as we're comparing stats: Total cache-to-cache distance: 215,649 km, 5.39x earth circumnavigation, 0.561x distance to the moon (yes, I know it's not so far) Furthest cache found: 8,669.54 km, Reductor de Velocidad, GC16PZA Mexico Most Northerly cache found: N 62° 20.895, Múla GC4GMDB Faroe Islands Most Southerly cache found: N 06° 07.163, Sukhawathi - A Taste of Ayurveda GCVMX4 Sri Lanka Most Easterly cache found: E 080° 45.603, On Sigiriya rock GCGRR6 Sri Lanka Most Westerly cache found: W 119° 33.905, Brass Cap Cache - Hythe GC43F3 Canada (note: this is likely to change again. Normally it's the Great Divide virtual http://coord.info/GC8160 between Alberta and British Columbia)
  4. Filling in countries on the map mainly. Would also be nice to continue with the Jasmer. We still have 13 months open between 2000 and 2002 and we can do three more that are within public transport/cycling distance. Afterwards this needs to be combined with traveling Something purely for the numbers, and hopefully for looking at some interesting geology: up the number of EarthCaches. Big time! Edit: oh, and we have 3.8% DNFs and hope to reduce those a bit more as well. Always possible locally unless the Co archives the listing, but most of them are from travels, and I don't think we'll return to those places. Mrs. terratin
  5. Amazing photos! The Oman one looks like some magmatic rock, or ophiolites?
  6. When I transfer one single cache to my Oregon I quite often get the HTML code transferred as well (doesn't happen with a pocket query). Which makes reading the cache description rather difficult. Adding more code, like web fonts will only make this worse. Seriously. Geocaching is an outdoor game and not a webdesign game. As such, I think the layout of a listing should be as simple as possible so that all GPSs understand the text and mobile phones don't use too much data (if there's a data connection at all). Ask yourself: do you want people enjoy a special effect font or enjoy your cache? If it's the first then maybe you should not be looking at an outdoor game.
  7. Interesting... We finished our D/T grid this year, did lots of caching while traveling, including in four countries we had not cached before, and finished a few challenges we'd been working on. For next year my wish would be to find more quality caches, continue traveling and caching, and slowly fill up our Jasmer calendar, which would mean more traveling
  8. Yes! And maybe we get some more nice photos from them
  9. Well, to be honest I never thought about going to Brazil. Lets just say it looks like a very short-term possibility might come up. But it's too much of a trip to just flow such a huge distance for a cache.
  10. Yes, there are caches in Intervales. I noticed that. But still this would only be a 2-3 days stay there. Are there other things to do 'nearby' that are worth the whole trip? Nice tropical beaches (not inner city beaches), other sights, great landscapes... those things.
  11. A question to those that visited the Ape cache in Brazil: What else can you do 'nearby'? I'm trying to justify a flight to Sao Paulo, but cannot really come up with a really good reason for going there, apart from the cache. Sao Paulo itself doesn't seem to be the most interesting place, the beaches nearby seem a bit overcrowded and not very special, and most things to see would require inland flights. Or am I wrong? Please give me some reasons for traveling all the way to Sao Paulo apart from that one cache
  12. So I can click on "Hide This" under each souvenir and it just changes the "Hide This" control to "Show This" and fades the image. I'm guessing now others won't see that I had 3 31 days souvenirs. I don't what others see on my souvenir page. How do I hide souvenirs so that *I* don't see them on my page? Go to your public profile and they should be hidden there.
  13. That's great Thanks a lot for this nice little feature. Can I now get more country souvenirs?
  14. Ok, here's a photo from our northernmost caching experience, and northernmost cache: Múla http://coord.info/GC4GMDB On the Faroe Islands were we spent 5 days, of which we had about 2 hours of non-rain Yes, it rained here as well
  15. 20 countries in Europe is quite impressive! Though there's still lots of opportunity in the Nordics for you, like Iceland, Faroe Islands, Åland Yea, my wish would be Montenegro, and then visit Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and maybe Albania (car rental companies don't like that) on the same trip We'll see if it works out. The biggest issue seems to be finding a nice accommodation that is not a modern flat. Oh well.. still lots of time.
  16. Thanks a lot for your answers! Those ammonite coins are absolutely marvelous! Gosh, I need to get them somehow! So any offers? The four element micros are also nice. The petrified wood one is one I'd buy if I visit that place one day. I think it's just a bit too location specific, but still an interesting coin. i do have the German EC reviewer coin, and it's got a tiny rock hammer I seriously love that coin Writes Mrs. terratin, who isn't really into coins, but...
  17. Well.. our weekend caching was far from inspiring... we had a couple of high-difficulty completed challenges and a few more solved mysteries, which all happened to be around the same two places, mainly in an industrial area between both. The cold wind didn't make it more pleasant Either we rent a car again next time or hope for better weather and make a forest cycling trip, but not one of those 'film canister on company fence' trips again. Unless we find a reason for still doing it
  18. Hello there! Three hours was indeed a very short stopover, but at least you did manage to log a few caches in Copenhagen Let me know when you get here next time, and we'll go caching together. Travel plans: well.. just some vague ideas, but nothing specific yet. Montenegro is quite high on my wish list for a summer vacation, and there are many other countries nearby for which I don't need a visum. Just need to find a rental company that lets me take the car over the border.
  19. Hello, I wonder if there are coins out there with a geology and/or earthcache theme. Yes, I know of the earthcache.org coins, and I do on them (love them for their simplicity!), but that's all I know about. Are there any others? Thanks, Mrs. Terratin
  20. Thanks a lot frinklabs, that makes much more sense. I had a wrong + in my calculation and simply could not see it. Oh well...
  21. Argh.. I'm feeling very thick at the moment and need some help. Lets say my average D rating over 2208 finds is 1.92000 my following founds are: 2209 1.5 2210 5 2211 3.5 2212 2.5 2213 3 2214 3 What is my average D after these finds, or rather what equation do I need? I'm certainly having an error somewhere in my calculation as my result is higher than what the stats here show. If you wonder, it's for a challenge and I want to know how much I still need.
  22. It might just be google misalignment. here in large parts of Denmark you can literally find caches by just looking at Google Maps. But there is one mystery at the other end of the country that seriously confused me. The solved coordinates pointed towards the roof of a rather large building. As there was no checker I asked the CO if my coordinates were right and that the location confused me. He confirmed them. Once at the location I looked up that building, searched on the edge of it without success. Then I decided to look at my gps and saw that the coords were still almost 60m off That's the biggest misalignment I've ever seen.
  23. I really like them, though they are a bit too big for my liking and I will pass. Otherwise the blue one had gotten a new home here.
  24. Whoa! I know that tunnel and drove through it so many times. It's such a pretty tunnel, and great buildings! Now I feel like visiting Hamburg again.
