  1. Other than being able to see them as their own category what other features are there? I know in Geocaching setup it details having a calendar entry when found, but how do you mark it found. currently i have just been changing the icon on my gps, but to me that seems off..there has to be something i am missing.

  2. First decide what application to use....i personally use gsak. First insert the disk that came with your 60csx into your computer and install all the software. This will also install the drivers for your unit.

Then become a premium member of geocaching.com so you can create pocket queries this will help you greatly in getting all the info you need to your GPS..the premium membership is 3.00 a month or 30.00 a year. Once a premium member create a couple PQs and soon they wil be in your email.

Download the file that you were sent from the site.

Then connect the usb cable to your computer and to the back of your unit. When looking at the back of the 60csx its the lower left rubber cover that has the usb connection.

Open up your waypoint manager of choice, as i said i prefer gsak for this. If using gsak open up the program and select the GPS heading on the tool bar and click setup. Select your gps and settings and it will be ready to upload to your GPS.

Then go to file -> open GPX/LOC file and select the zip file you recieved from GC.com this will import all the caches and information about the caches to gsak. Once inported you can select GPS again and hit send..this will upload the geocaches into your 60scx and bam you are ready to cache.

If you need more details let me know, but there are many posts in this forum about this very thing and about how to use gsak to its full potential.

    I hope this helps

  3. They need a "hide me from my significant other's wrath" button and a "give me a good excuse to be off work today" button

If any GPS company can develop that they would be the only GPS ever sold.

I am lucky though my geocaching partner is my girlfriend so that at least takes care of the first problem....now to somehow make geocaching a job that i can get paid for.....

  4. One way to do this, although time consuming, is turn off all the services that the rep told you to...then turn them back on one by one till the program stops working. Then disable the one you just enabled and see if it starts working again. If it works then you found exactly was causing it. With that information we can look further into the issue.

  5. I recently purchased cachemate for my pocket pc...so far it looks great and i like it a lot. What i dont understand about it is the center point option. I figure its so you can find caches closest to your "home base", but what format does that need to be in?

    Thanks

  6. I just recently installed City Navigator V8 on my 60CSx, and when I first took it geocaching I noticed that on the compass page, it no longer gives the option to mark the cache as "Found". I can't figure out how to get that back, plus I am not crazy about having the autorouting on while geocaching. Is there a way to not use the City Navigator while I am geocaching, and then turn it back on when I am 'roadtrippinit' ?

The unit will not show the option for found if you are currently routing "on road". When you get out of the vehicle hit the menu button and select reroute. Then select off road. You might need to set up the unit to ask you how you want to route instead of having a default of "on road"

I am considering CN V8 NT for my 60csx along with a 2 gig micro card. Does anyone have recent pros or cons for this?

    Thanks.

I geocache with City Nav 8 all the time...works well for me. I just have to make sure that once i am in the area i turn off follow road because that will really mess with you. I have also found that if the cache is near a park or something that is near an interstate the auto routing will want you to get on the interstate to get to the cache. This is rare and more of an annoyance than a problem.

Over all i am very pleased with city nav you just need to know when to turn it off.

  7. The maps I am currently trying to produce will be composed of the USGS 1/3 Arc NED elevation model together with the High-Res hydrography data on subbasin level.

    chandljl,

in case you're still at it, the first 4 (new style) map segments completed compiling on mapcenter:

It's only the top 4, the other 6 are still in the old format, but will get replaced soon.
