  1. I think requiring people to take on the responsibility of hiding caches is a bad idea. Its sort of like requiring people to have children so that we have more geocachers in the world...ok, well maybe sort of not, at least with the cache you don't have to find a baby sitter to go out to dinner.
  2. The original questions have been answered. I am closing this topic.
  3. Cache reviewers attempt to catch things like incorrect cache type, but the rest of the list is the responsibility of the cache owner. In many cases when they attempt to be "helpful" and comment on something like spelling or a bad hint the reply is one of many variations of "mind your own business".
  4. Letterbox Hybrids are listed with all other caches. You should be able to search by zipcode or Lat/Long and find the listing.
  5. Please keep this on topic. The discussion is about auto-archiving events, not new features that have been added to the site they get their own topics. If the topic starter just wanted to make sure the idea is heard, thanks and you can close the topic. If you would like to keep it open for a community discussion of pros/cons of automating this feature please feel welcome to do so. I do ask that the rest of you please keep to the topic.
  6. Every day I bring Kali with me to the Groundspeak office, he has been bugging me for some great geogear for a long time. I will see if I can get Rothstafari working on something cool for the GeoPups. Please feel free to keep posting suggestions
  7. I ran into Jamie at the coffee shop again, he said he had a great time out geocaching with all of you. Jon & the rest of the cachers thanks for going out and showing them what Geocaching and our community is really about!
  8. Yes, you are correct a cache under a bridge with a warning to watch out for police when logging should be archived. From the guidelines:
  9. I don't know wath the record is but that account might qualify for the quickest geocide. I hope he removed his geolitter.
  10. Jeremy Nope, we did not sit around coming up with 5000 names. They were all downloaded from a baby name database.
  11. In case Lil Devil hadn't read these posts I have made sure he reads these last two posts. I am sure he will be in contact with you soon. He is a good guy I am sure he will get your code to you ASAP.
  12. Odd coincidence, I happened to email them just this am asking them to put the camera back up. They are aware of geocaching and geocachers, a few more emails isn't a bad idea.
  13. You'll find some nice suggestions in this thread. I am closing this topic as it is a duplicate of the other started a little earlier today.
  14. Happy Caceversary Lep & Lil' Lep! I send you virtual cases of pop tarts to keep you going on the trails!!
  15. define:snarky A colloquialism meaning short-tempered or snappish.
  16. I have always liked the word snarky
  17. Actually the cache isn't always toast, if the container is well labeled there are some bomb squads that do take the time to contact either us or the cache owner. We have stopped a few caches from being blown up just because the container was well labeled. Now as for this listing, it doesn't seem as if it was inappropriately listed at all. So finger pointing isn't necessary. Personally, I would like to see more responsibility go to the cache owner and the caching community when it comes to what is appropriate and what is not in your area. If you see a cache in a container that you think might be of concern, then notify the cache owner. Just remember to be kind in your email, sending a snarky email will get you no where in cache owner/cacher relations.
  18. We have no State reps in Illinois and especially no formal group in Chicago. Any chance that some Jeeps could make their way here this year? It would seem to make sense to market their products here. Maybe that's just goofy, sorry. Illinois received a fair number of jeeps last year. I am unsure how none of those ever made it to Chicago. Maybe everyone took them out of your state, or you had some anti-jeep contest cachers who started grabbing them up as soon as they were dropped. They had that problem in a few areas, and it is something that I cannot regulate. Lots of jeeps have been shipped to Illinois, they should be finding their way into caches by late next week.
  19. For those of you that were not anywhere near GWIII this weekend, not to worry. There are lots of jeeps to still be shipped. They will be going out to state reps all week!
  20. I see how your situation brought up in the topic of this thread was straightened out. I will not allow a thread simply for the purpose of complaining about site volunteers to remain open. There are appropriate channels for complaint issues, and this isn't one of them.
  21. Any more comments that are not related to if you are willing to provide support to the efforts by Pyewacket and Sissy will be considered off topic.
  22. Nice letters written! I am glad they published so many. Great job geocachers!
  23. Much of this has been in place for over a month already. Someone in SC is currently doing SC cache reviews. We have provided an direct line of communication for Land Managers and other Officials already, the emails are received by myself, the SC Reviewer, and a member of the SCGA. It is an email address used for official communication only, it is not to be used by the geocaching community as we do not want "red flagged" items to be diluted with other issues. The SCGA liaison is a SCGA responsibility I will not comment on this aspect. Groundspeak and Groundspeak volunteers will honor any policies that are in place for an area, this is a policy we have stood by since the beginning. The site guidelines are not necessarily amended to reflect individual state changes, but they will be honored in the states in which they apply. Groundspeak is one listing site, for the community to want all caches to adhere to the state policies then the community will need to have a very active organized group responsible for this. Groundspeak and Groundspeak Volunteers can only review that which is listed on geocaching.com. I will not ask that a Groundspeak Volunteer Reviewer put their phone number on any cache placement, that is the sole responsibility of the cache owner. The cache owner assumes all responsibility of their cache listings.
  24. Wait, since it's well known that "Jeremy" is really a super-intelligent computer that controls a secret army of robots...Who DOES run this site? A Giant Cyborg Panda? Cause, you know, every consipiracy theory needs pandas. Hydee runs everything Are you calling Hydee a panda? Better than being a chicken.
