  1. You post an SBA after DNFs? What ever happened to "Needs Maintenance" ??
  2. I understand using a sock puppet for that. Who wants the wrath of local cachers on you? You said they are valid and yet you still want to stone him. They probably have visited them under another name or just never logged them. Remember - we're not talking about a half a dozen, or even twenty. We're talking about 100 (probably + by now) in the space of a few days - suggesting a 'bot'. Also, these are from one side of Australia to the other. There is no way this guy could be familiar with them all.
  3. We know who 'calculon' is - what I'm really asking is if Groundspeak approve of this type of behaviour?
  4. Hey Don't usually post here, once in a blue moon. But there's something going on in Australia thats getting my goat, and a lot of other peoples too. There's this sock puppet, called Calculon, who appears to be running a bot which puts SBA requests on caches, without regard for any existing notes or explanations for their being disabled. It's not that the idea is bad, it's that it seems to be somebody hiding behind a sock puppet, not taking responsibility for their actions. To put it in perspective, this guy has put nearly 100 SBA's on since the 3rd of June, and that's a lot. Is this allowable under the GS terms and conditions - and are they aware of it if it isn't. Thanks Cached
  5. Rather than limiting the number of PQs that can be downloaded, why not limit the total number of caches downloaded per day? At the moment it is 2500 caches. (5 x 5). So set a 2500 cache limit, and if I download as 5 x 500, 10 x 250 or 1 x 2500, I haven't gotten any more or less data, but I have had some flexibility. Cached
  6. Some observations: I despise the new photo thing - it is slow and cumbersome - I really liked the mouseover where I could have a one second look at a photo if I was interested. Now it takes longer so I won't bother. Pretty does not make it better. Why does it have to say who wrote the description? Just call it a description and be done with it. Just more clutter. But the big one, and why I dropped in, was about DATE FORMAT. Please, Make it say 12 Feburary, or February 12 or something universal. Because 2/12/2007 is the 2nd of December to me- and a lot of the rest of the world too. Have you guys considered getting some useability experts in to help with the user interface? They are brilliant at what they do. Cached in Australia
  7. It's staying too long. Three or four days should be enough, even a week. I attended an event on the 15th of May and now it's the first of June and it's still in the list. Cached
  8. http://img.geocaching.com/track/log/displa...3b46db1e11a.jpg Woohoo - Blue Skye! There appear to be two balloon coins in the photos - I don't know the other one...
  9. Mine might have done feat 80 - I'm waiting to hear if they found a basket.
  10. Thanks! Totally forgot about that! Now I've read it again! Doh! That meant - For the BONUS feats, you can log the TB number instead of a Waypoint ID! Which is the way I understood it originally - thought there was something different that I hadn;t realised. Been doing OK.
  11. Thanks! Totally forgot about that! So for a "visits the zoo" type feat, I can log against the TB number instead of needing another cache move? Cool. PS. Looks like my guy is going to get a balloon ride this w/e - very cool!
  12. I've been thinking on this for the afternoon. It's probably worthwhile not trying to please everyone - if a BSA coin is what you want to do, then do a BSA coin. You can probably do a really nice combo with BSA and GS. I'll buy one! What interests me is a centenary of scouting coin, so I think I might do that... Clear Skies!
  13. Not 100%. There is Girl Guides and Boy Scouts in Canada. There are two world movements. Basically they are Girl Guides and Scouts. US Girl Scouts belong to WAGGS - World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts and Girl Guides are not members of WOSM. WOSM - World Organisation of Scout Movements is co-educational and only a few countries restricting membership to boys only - including the USA. WAGGS (girls only) and WOSM (boys and girls) usually both exist in most countries. Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Britain, Indonesia have both sexes in Scouts and if they have guides, thats just girls. Scouts Canada is not "boy scouts" - it's co-ed, but that doesn't mean they don't have guides too.
  14. I am glad to hear that! I agree to marmacette, that having to choose a feature is why I liked this game from the first time I heard of it To the question of Cached - I am not sure if it is the same as mine was: "2nd: what does "moved 5 times milestone" mean? (i am not sure about the sence of it) what I understand is: the 5th move. (therefore this feature can be checked just once and never again - if the 5th move is a 4* terrain-move and I choose the terrain-feature than the other is never available again.) Is that right?" Avroair's answer: 'NO, SORRY IF SHOULD SAY: MOVED 5 TIMES OR MORE, SO YOU CAN LOG IT ANYTIME AFTER 5 MOVEMENTS.' greetings, Dunja We're all good then - thanks!
  15. Anybody realised that outside the USA, Scouting includes girls?
  16. Ditto. Mine are in girl scouts also. Would be neat if it was more like a patch -- they are always working towards those patches. So, a geocoin that looks like a patch that was earned for geocaching....I may be onto something here...I may have to work up a design on that one.... ...Anthus I like that! I am a GS leader (that is taking this year off). Both my older girls are scouts and we would love to see a GS coin. The patch idea is neat....or maybe cookie shaped! How about a round coin with "stitches" around the edge, a GC logo with the fleur de lis superimposed over the top of it?
  17. Purple is the international scouting colour! 2007 is the international centenary of scouting too.
  18. Query about the Milestone moves. In particular "moved 10 times". On my coin, the 10th move comes up when the cacher has moved it twice inside 24 hours. So as it's a milestone, does it matter who moved it? Or can I claim on the eleventh move as it has had it's "10th move" as long as I don't claim it retrospectively in that I haven't claimed another feat in the middle. Thanks Cached

    Seasons

It's been two days, but I still can't fathom that the question has been asked. Next you'll be asking what happens to the leaves on our trees if we don't have fall?? (Coz we don't - no fall in our seasons...) Strangely enough, there's a whole heap of countries don't do things the US way.
  21. Are the 80 feats by the cacher or the coin or a combination of the two? Put me down for a set - another one to Australia.
  22. I am a Venturer Scout Leader in Australia. I have just finished running a state event (not a huge attendance by US standards, but 25 kids attended), for the second year. We call it "Frenzy". Basically we take teams of 3-6 Venturers (14-18yo) and hand them loaded GPS and map and they get six hours on foot to find as many specially hidden caches as they can manage. The difficulty of the caches vary, as does the terrain. They are scored on with a rough formula of difficulty * distance from HQ (log scale) * 10 (or something like that). As they find each cache, they sign the log and SMS (text message - don't know what you call them...) from their mobile back to HQ so we can calculate scores and know their locations. Last year (2005) we ran from 4pm til 10pm around our state camp ground (one of many national jamboree sites - ours rotate) www.woodhouse.org.au the caches were on and off the site. This year we ran in metropolitan adelaide - city based caches - mostly micros, again varying in distance and difficulty. This year they had 50 to choose from. They were provided maps and information and were encouraged to strategise to complete their goal. The prize on offer was a GPS unit organised for purchase from a local supplier at cost. Prizes were funded from entrance fees. Cached South Australia
  23. Their response was "Whats a Power Trail"? We don't have an issue with them here yet - hence we don't even know what they are! Goodonya Aushiker for coming here to ask a question when your usual community couldn't come up with the answers you wanted.
  24. The legend C is a great piece of kit. The rubber does stretch around the edge a bit. Thats cheap to replace and you would have had the same problem on the old one. Contrary to how it looks, any accessories you had for the old legend will fit. Even the replaceable back will fit, even though they do provide you with a little to jigger to fit to all the contraptions you can get. Catchya
  25. Apparently you can't list the price in the listing, because even event cache that are dinners can't ben seen to be charging a fee.
