  1. I am coming out to visit the listed areas. Any input into some must finds, easy finds, virtuals, or just any conversation on caching in these areas would be helpful. I'm not paperless so I need to narrow down a few in each area to go for.
  2. Just thought I would try out a post with my new Avatar. I've never had a custom made Avatar before. I sure hope it works. Here we go....Thanks Chris S.
  3. WOW....Thanks Chris!!!!! Can you change the GPS to a Blue etrex Legend, and add the bell theme somehow? That is great.....THANKS

  5. Well, I'll throw my little request out there and see if anyone feels like taking it on. We are the 4dingdongz from Westerville, Ohio. 4dingdongz is a play on our last name....Bell. Mom, Dad, and two sons make up our family. We cache with our black lab and an etrex Legend. We like to do a lot of hiking and camping. Any of that stuff in an avatar would be great.
  6. I guess I appreciate everyone's opinions, but where I have a problem is when someone tells me how I SHOULD cache. It's a game and as far as I can tell, I am playing by the rules.
  7. It is definitely not unanimous. Whenever I have a no-find I log it as so. If i go back and find that cache, I change it to a find. I keep the no-find info on the log, add my new log to indicate the find, then change the date to reflect the find date. i have to admit, I never thought of doing it any other way.
  8. I have never put my etrex Legend in water on purpose, but the other night while out caching in a snowstorm, I thought I was going to have to buy a new one. I got back in the car to go to my next cache (because that's what us cachin' type people do) and hooked my GPSr back up to the car adaptor and, unbeknownst to me, there was still water/snow on the port and the thing went crazy. I immediately unplugged it and dried it off real good. It seems to be as good as new....whewww!!!
  9. How much is the charger for these batteries?
  10. I definitely know how to do the searches. I guess I was just hoping for some recommendations of good ones other people have done. The plan is to be around the Memorials and the Smithsonian.
  11. I will be visiting D.C. and Annapolis this weekend. I won't have much time to cache, but I would like to bag a few in each locale. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I also will be driving over from Ohio via 70E-79S-68E-70E to Annapolis. Does any know any quickies to hit at any rest areas or anything like that?
  12. I fell on a slippery creek crossing while caching on my lunch hour. Luckily I have clothes in my locker back at work. Be careful when crossing the creek in Whetstone Park near the Nerdy Smurf cache. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...14-6325f8abc607 My back wasn't right for weeks after. I wasn't even going for the find on this particular trip, I was putting something in it for the owners.
  13. I dropped my very favorite geocaching red pen near a cache last winter. The good part of the story is the next finder logged it as a find and used it to log many more finds. I guess I just like being helpful.
  14. Now I'm certainly no genius, but my etrex Lagend has waas and it appears to be on. The only evidence I have is the little waas icons on my satellite bars, and they are on. Remember: Stop, Look, and Listen
  15. A local newswriter is compiling information for an article in our newspaper. As I have been assisting him, I have been contacting local geocachers. Some of them are opposed to publicity for geocaching for some of the obvious reasons; trampled wooded areas, new geocachers jumping in and then not tending to their caches, non-geocacher interference etc... I understand this argument, but am not sure if I agree with it or not. Let's get some discussion going on this subject. Remember: Stop, Look, and Listen
  16. I was just going to start this exact topic when I found this thread. I have never found a TravelBug, but am looking forward to my first. I kind of think etiquette/protocol would be NOT to go back just for a TB. Is there anyone out there of this opinion? Remember: Stop, Look, and Listen
  17. What is the fastest anyone out there has found 100 caches? Who has the most caches? Is there a caching Hall of Fame? Is there a way to check these questions on the website? Remember: Stop, Look, and Listen
  18. I am getting a great feel for my new Garmin Legend. I have just about everything figured out except....I have not figured what Tracks are on the main menu. I am assuming it is similar to the route setting, but ????? Anyone out there have any input? What are the benefits of this setting? Also, is there a shorter/quicker/ more instant way to set a waypoint other than main menu and mark? Sometimes when I am driving, I am several clicks away from Mark and I miss my waypoint. Remember: Stop, Look, and Listen
  19. While caching today, I was having problems. As I was approaching my cache using my go to setting, the arrow was fine. It was pointing in the correct direction. Then as I got closer, my distance to my waypoint continued to get smaller, but my arrow was pointing in the opposite direction for the last tenth of a mile or so. This occured three different times at two different cache sites. My unit is a Garmin etrex Legend. Any suggestions or solutions out there? Remember: Stop, Look, and Listen
