  1. I wouldn't bother. If you order from GPSnow.com you can have it in 2 days for about $8.00 shipping or overnight for about $16.00 if I remember correctly. Another Larry
  2. sure wish my went that smooth. My 76CSX goes about half ways thru the load process and mostly gives me, "we lost contact with the gps, you may have to reset gps and try again". or something like that. And GPS is still in receieve mode. I'm going to make another thread about it, and if nobody replies with a solution, going to call garmin about it. Sucks to spend hours buildiing map sets just to crap out on the GPS load part. --danny Danny, If you're plugging in to a USB hub you might want to try going directly to a USB port on your computer. Also, try a different USB port on the computer after unplugging all your unnessessary USB devices. Bummer, dude! Another Larry
  3. I'm not sure about the lack of map detail on your GPSr, but it's normal for that "Include route calculation data" box to be grayed out for the NT version of the maps. Since the NT version saves so much space through its being compressed, the route calculation data is always included in the transfer. --Larry Thanx larry. That was a big help. Well, i took out my 2 gig sandisk and put the orginal card in, and reloaded WV onto the unit, and now shows my streets.... I noticed before i would sometimes have trouble sending maps to the unit, and also that i couldn't zoom out very far on the topo maps... I will experiment more, but it would seem that maybe the unit has a hard time reading the card or the card was defective?? Any help is welcome. and thanx again larry for telling me that was normal.. Thought that must be it, till u told me different. --danny Well, still had troubles sending it map data, and kept having to turn it off and on each time the map load failed. Had partial sucess as long as i didn't include topo maps in the load. BUT, now i think i broke the gps. After one of the failed attempts, it will no longer stay on. I comes on, then fades away into darkness (the screen). Just isn't my day today. I killed my 350 dollar GPS. Its still under warrienty, but i didn't register it on there site. Any ideas if this problem can be fixed.. or will i have to send it back? <Day that was suppose to be awesome went sour> --danny Sorry if this is a foolish question, but have you tried new batteries? Another Larry (Lofty17) Not a foolish question, but does the same both on the USB port. Plus batteries had 3 bars power. It got confused when i had to kept shutting it off when it was doing a transfer. I should have just been happy with the road map of WV and did some test driving. Then loaded the rest of the data tonight at work. As it is, i didn't even get to give the new road maps a driving test. sucks --danny I'm in over my head here, considering that my software won't even arive until Monday. Have you tried reloading the 3.5 firmware? Lets do all the experimanting on yours so I don't break mine. That just sux! I'm really sorry you're going through this. Another Larry

  5. Follow-up: I was notified just now that my copy has shipped. --Larry Thanks for the heads up. I just ordered mine. Unfortunately it's past 4PM Central. I'll have to wait a whole extra day! (Heavy sigh). Another Larry (Lofty17)
  6. I currently use CacheMate from http://www.smittyware.com/ on my Samsung i730 smartphone running WM5. Oops, the 730i is a Pocket PC Phone, not a smart phone. Sorry about the misinformation. It accepts .gpx files, and I've downloaded several cache databases to it from pocket queries via GSAK filtering. It probably doesn't have everything you're looking for, but give it a try. They have a free trial version you can play with, and the full version is only $8.00. Hope that helps, Larry
