  1. to lassitude and others, i belive we still have free speech in this country and this is a discussion board is it not ?? so talk of 'banning' someone is just pathetic ! truth hurts apparently ! i think the quote goes somthing like 'i may not agree with what you say, but i will fight to the death for your right to say it " i applaud fangmonster for his cander and although i have only been a geocacher for a short time i can see where he is coming from so to speak. anyway thats my opinion on the matter humble as it may be in a world without walls and border's who needs gate's and windows ??
  2. just bought a GEKO 101 on ebay for a very good price it certainly is a very tiny bit of kit and its so easy to use ( easier than the etrex i think , mainly due to button position ) as a first gps i dont think you can beat it ,ok so you cant link it to a computer but hey how long does it take to tap in coord's ??
  3. im up for it whats the idea ? and yes i have a digi camera (or two )
  4. me too found 4 placed 0 ( watch this space ) how many gloucestershire cachers ??
  5. i am very new to geocaching, i have only found four caches and i have introduced one person to the sport. i feel that as a 'newbie' i should at least say a few words with regard to the future of my new found pastime. whilst i agree that the moderators do a brilliant job (T&J were very welcoming amongst others when i made my first posts on the forum ) and i have to say that MCL makes a lot of sense in what he says , sorry but thats how i feel. we need to be very careful how we portray ourselves and i think that the R+J show is the wrong vehicle for this. i do not consider this to be a 'serious' programme,if we have to use the power of television to inform the general public about the sport, would we not get better mileage from a programme such as COUNTRYFILE which is a well produced programme which champions less mainstream pursuits with a great deal of professionalism (IMHO) the comments i have made are just my opinion and nothing else but i felt i had to say something and make my feelings known because i would hate to see this great sport end up being maligned
  6. thanks to pharisee and the wombles for your welcome and comments its nice to be part of the community hope to try for my first cache this weekend i will let you all know how it goes/went cheers for now
  7. thankyou tim and june for your kind words i am sure this is the start of a new and rewarding sport looking forward to posting my first find
