  1. Please accept my apologies everyone. I've let myself get a bit bogged down with training for a new job (air traffic control) and bathroom renovations. As best I can tell the following are in for next time: 1) ElliPirelli 2) jpbarr 3) twofingersdown 4) yanagi and now I've taken so long... 5) nevadanick Does anyone else want in? Number 6, 7, or more? Time to wrap this up.
  2. Fair point TwoFingersDown. So far there are only 3 takers (nevadanick has said he's out for now). So... bump! Who's in? Yanagi, I'll be in touch soon for advice on how to sort it out from this end :-)
  3. I'm afraid that between the new app's lack of functionality and the paid app's inability to show corrected coords on the map, you've lost me to c:geo. At least with that when I look at the live map any puzzles I've solved show up at the corrected coords so I know if I'm passing one. It also shows the distance to go in a slighter larger font so I don't have to stop and hunt for the information before moving off. This us especially useful when driving to the next caching spot.
  4. Well that was unexpected! Look what arrived today - I was wracking my brain trying to think what I'd ordered (& who from) Eventually it dawned on me. I guess I'm next to forward this one on.
  5. I was too slow! That Hogwild Compass is so cool I'm not surprised it went quickly.
  6. Maybe you'll be getting some snowcoins !!!
  7. It's getting cold in New Zealand, we're having roast vegetables and fillet steak. Still having a cold beer with it though ?
  8. Message sent (via geocaching message centre).
  9. You're not missing anything, don't worry about it.
  10. Agreed. I would add that saving a puzzle cache with corrected coordinates is a waste of time until the app reliably saves those new coordinates. I have a list of over 500 solved puzzles (I need to get out more) and it's a lottery as to whether the corrected coordinates will be there or not. If they're not I would then need an ability to refresh the listing to get them back (as I can do with the old app). It makes the term "Offline List" a joke, but at least if I have data it's a work-around.
  11. The fonts are small on my Galaxy S7 and that's considered a large screen, particularly the distance to go which is so small it's effectively hidden. I'd hate to imagine what it's like to use on an older iPhone (or the new 4" screen one). It seems it's aimed at those who don't realise there are better options out there. I've never liked/got the hang of C:geo but if they ever turn off Geocaching Classic that's what I'll be using.
  12. If it wasn't for the other options (GPSr, other caching apps) the new app would be driving away experienced, paying, members. It's a dog.
  13. I've just thought of something else (while answering a question in another thread): Logging the trackables appears to be a separate function in the new app. From the cache page scroll down to "Inventory", tap "View My Inventory", this will bring up a list of all your TBs and coins. You can then tap "log" and choose from "Visit", "Drop", and "Write Note". It seems that you will need to go through all this separately for each coin/TB (bit of a bugger if you have several to dip). There is no option I can see to dip multiple coins/TBs together. They have taken a simple function with a few steps and made it a time-consuming, multi-step, nightmare! Further to this: I have a growing collection of geocoins that I have in my "Collection" on the website. These coins, when logging online, are not available for "Visit" or "Drop" logs, the can only be discovered. Using the app all 104 of them show up in my inventory. The TBs and any coins I've picked up in the wild to move on... are scattered throught this list. Another example of the new app being barely functional to unworkable.

  15. I agree with all you've said but, This: 2) The navigation screen doesn't prominently show the distance to a cache other than using very small letters at the bottom... and this is KEY information you use when navigating! This: 4) Personal cache notes are missing, which I've used to store solutions to puzzles... so I have no access to these in the field and This: 5) New cache posting alerts received by email with the cache link cannot be opened by the new app. (It reports "invalid GC code".) are the main reasons I'm still using Geocaching Classic (and trying to get used to using my Oregon 450) I would add that 9) offline lists are worse than useless for anyone looking for puzzle caches (to be fair this is also the case in the Classic app) as it can be hit and miss as to whether the corrected coordinates will be there or not. With the classic app you need to hit refresh (so not very offline). With the new app there is no option to refresh the data (or it's incredibly well hidden), so you have no way at all of finding the solved puzzle cache. Rant over, carry on.
  16. I should point out... I'm in New Zealand so postage could be painful (as it is when I send coins overseas).
  17. Okay, I'll give it a try. Sorry to say my wishlist is way longer than my trade list, but if successful I'll consider other coins in my collection too. https://www.mygeodb.de/showroom/abdee23cddf19c448039f66eb5de099c.html
  18. I'd be keen on your 2006 Kiwi geocoin (I'm a New Zealand cacher/coin collector). I have a few trading coins here: https://www.mygeodb.de/showroom/abdee23cddf19c448039f66eb5de099c.html Thanks Mike
  19. Thanks bjmccacher. Mine's number 083 :-)
  20. Here's a scenario for you all: a newbie cacher has reached out on FB for help. She has located a TB that had gone missing in 2012. A proxy had been sent out in its place and is still live. For this reason she can't really release the original. She emailed the owner BUT... it's a Jeep TB, the 'owner' isn't a geocache as such as these TBs were part of a competition (the profile shows the owner last logged on in 2004). What does she do with the original TB? I've about run out of ideas.
  21. I got one today. A lovely little coin. It's numbered on the back, I see. Does anyone know if they're individually numbered or is it more like a pathtag serial (same on every coin)?
  22. Hi All I'm now looking for one of ever coin mentioned here ^
  23. I found #173 (Antique Silver/Gold) in a cache in New Zealand a few years ago. The only non-trackable coin, and one of the nicest geocoins, I've come across.
  24. This one has already been answered, and before we get a slew of people asking the code for their state, let me provide some instructions. To get the full list of caches in your state, like you had before, go to this page, and in the 3rd box down on the left, choose your state and click Go. Or, if all you want to see are events, go to this page, select the cache type, by "country/state," choose your country and state, and click Search for Geocaches. Either way, after you get the first result page, bookmark that page in your browser. Then use that bookmark in the future. That's great if I only used my computer, however I sometimes look them up at work where I have access to 7 different PCs. I'm simply not able to save the bookmark at all of them. The bottom line is that the old link (as much as it "cluttered" the page) was a simple solution used by many. In over seven years I've never used the "View nearby benchmarks" or "View nearby waymarks" links. Please remove them. Thanks in advance.
