  4. I thank you all for your advise and help. We really look forward to this trip. Husband and son have never been there. I haven't since high school. If you ever come to Michigan.... 3Bees
  5. We are planning a trip to DC for spring break next year. Not knowing the area and believing everything we see on the news ......can someone advise us on the best area to stay? We have an appointment at the Smithsonian and also wish to see the sights and cache with out 12 year old. Lot of virtuals out there! Appreciate your help. 3Bees Owosso, Michigan
  6. quote:_____________________________________________________________________________________So far so good, somewhat new owner of a second/new Garmin GPS V 20 plus finds so far with little to no problem. We'll see what happens when there are leaves on the trees again. umc ---- Correct me if I am wrong......but didn't you get this for YOUR WIFE FOR HER BIRTHDAY!!!??? At least I got a new power saw from my husband.
  7. I read those posts also and they seem to be in areas where there are meth labs and certain agricultural endevers that are not legal. I've never heard of that beeing a problem here in MI. (We have 4 finds here now! we are hot!) Our first cache, and I've never mentioned this in public before, there was a giant (8 inch) Big Ben alarm clock OUTSIDE the cache but right smack next to it. My son reached for it before I saw it. When I saw it I FREAKED out thinking bomb! 'Back away from the cache!' I poked it with a looooooong stick, then when we didn't blow up we proceeded. And took the clock! LOL You could post on www.mi-geocaching.org and see if any other of us Michiganders have had an incident. We are a fun group.....come on over!
  8. Also a scrapbooker! Started planning and buying for my geocaching scrapbook before we actually found anything! (only have 3 finds!) Will have the cache page on one side and pics, etc. on the other. Cache without a camera???? Never!
  9. Another Michigander! Of all the nerve. I thought this was my idea. LOL We just started geocaching (one find w/out a GPS) and my son wants to do this for a school project. Hope no TB goes missing this time! Thanks! 3Bees
  10. Wondering if anyone would be interested in this; My travel bug going to your specific cache, yours going to mine. Let's see who's gets there first. Can't place ours for at least a month to 6 weeks - it's winter here in Michigan and we just got more snow.
  11. I appreciate all the great replys. Having never found a cache (or looked yet), it is good to know, going in, what is good. I especially liked to advice about ebay (my personal drug of choice!). Now I have another excuse! I had wondered about what 'signature items' were also and you answered that question too. I promise (hand on my heart) to never leave a McToy!
  12. We are just thinking of getting started and want to go about it right. I've been reading lots of posts about trashy caches but not what to leave or put in a new one. Maybe I missed it......can you help? Any other advice for this family in Michigan?
