  1. Did you recieve a email notice that your new cache report had been received? On my 2nd of my two caches, I did not and had to re-submit it Here is part of the email notice: "Greetings from Geocaching.com. Just a quick note to let you know that we received your cache report. Someone will review it shortly and post it to the site if there are no issues. In the meantime, you can check out your cache page at the following address:" hope this helps! 2. I looked at your window screen shot as I made regions about your same size at location, had no problems. Probably need to call Magellan. I had reason to call them as I installed new version software and had excellent response and help. You may also find help on Magellan user group on Yahoo. I have also gotten alot of help from reading the posts on that forum. 3. Thanks to Drpepper and the others that helped him to get our wedding and appreciation gift to Lysa and her family. I am sure that it took more time than most of us realize. And again Lysa, I salute you for taking the time to report this lost cache and getting it back to it's owner. 4. I was wondering where everyone was! Before time runs out on those guys, the file for upgrade is on the Magellan web page How much time is left for those guys/gals in the penalty box? I gotta go to another forum quick. I have flouted the wild, I have followed its lure, fearless. familar, alone; yet the wild must win, and a day will come when I shall be overthrown. 6. Pardon me for the double post, the thin air made me light headed. I was trying to edit and add that the "first cache is on the summit". 9. When you click on open, I believe that Netscape is trying to open a file either in HTML or using a Netscape plugin. I think you have to SAVE the file to a folder (remember the folder), then open Easygps, got to file, open file, select file. I had Netscape 7, but uninstalled it. I thought it stunk up my puter. 11. quote:Originally posted by bailuck:I have a new Meridian GPS and it seems to be off a bit.......... Can anyone help me fix this or is there anything I can do? I have a Mag Merigreen and there is no adjustments you can make. It is either working or it isn't. Just be sure you are using the right datum (WGS84), waas is ON and you have the right coordintates entered in unit. There are so many variables to finding a cache that you have to look at it as an art or skill not a technology function of a GPSr. Sometimes I find it helpful (once I find the area and think I am close) to back off 100 feet and walk staight to the area at a normal pace (about 2-3 MPH) from a direction that I have good or better signal strength. The GPSr can calculate your position better it seems, while you are moving. Relax, trust your unit to get you close then use the hint if you have to or want to. You may want to read about some of this on the glossary page. 12. I purchased about 150 of these safety strobe lights and use them as my signature item after taking them out of the package and applying my email address to them. They have a clip to attach to a belt or other garment. They are LED lights, so the included cheapo batteries should last a good while. Kids and grown-up kids both seem to enjoy getting them. I understood from a previous thread that a signature item was supposed to ID you, so that is why I put my email on them I have flouted the wild, I have followed its lure, fearless. familar, alone; yet the wild must win, and a day will come when I shall be overthrown. 13. Just count the stars (diffulculty & terrain) you have and paste/post them on your refrigerator. Don't tell anyone about them unless they ask. I did 2 caches this past Saturday and enjoyed them both. Took about 4 hours, somebody else may have done 12 in 4 hours. But did they enjoy it? It really depends on what you want out of this hobby. 14. Can not really help you. But if any one can figure out what you need to see international maps on your equipment, I will try to send it to you. Supporting our troops (and a fellow cacher at that) is high on my agenda. Your username seems to have something to do with shooting. My son is a former Marine and was on the pistol and rifle team. I went to watch him shoot at the world Marine competition @ Camp Lejune. He took #1 in pistol and #16 in rifle @ Pendleton while based there. Did not place @ world shoot. Number #1 in pistol @ world shoot was a female Marine. God Bless you and all of our troops. 19. Just a reminder that it is turkey hunting season in many of these United States and there are some safety measures that we all should take if we are caching in an area where hunting is going on. I made a cache log that brought the danger to my attention. To check on your states hunting seasons you can goto this web page and after clicking on your state of interest, you will find a link to that states wildlife resource website. This subject has been discussed before and I am not posting this to start a controversial thread. Just simply a reminder that it may be turkey hunting season near a cache you are searching for. 21. Good Luck, Lysa and family. Anyone heard from Drpeeper, oops I mean Drpepper? Would like to hear a report on wedding gift and the presentation. Or when it might happen. 22. I have been playing with easygps and had expertgps downloaded but had not tried it yet. With the questions and answers here I was able to open it (expertgps) upload waypoints and my track from this past weekend of finding 4 caches. And was able to see track on topo and aerial photo. And was able to sync both. Will buy full version now. Thanks again I have flouted the wild, I have followed its lure, fearless. familar, alone; yet the wild must win, and a day will come when I shall be overthrown. By: Robert Service

And I assume this is without any kind of signal disruption. I think they always give the best sennario. Navigation Screens Q: Why does my compass not point in the right direction? A: The Meridian computes direction by comparing your present position to the last position taken, it requires that you be moving to compute your compass heading. To eliminate error, you must be moving at a minimum of 2.0 mph. The exception is the Meridian Platinum, which has an electronic compass that will compute the compass heading below 2.0 mph. This includes computing your compass heading while you are standing still. 24. quote:Originally posted by Brian - Team A.I.:to get that picky and REQUIRE parking coords, I could just see where this would take urban micro caching.......... If you want a reasonable dialogue with everyone, please try to be less abrasive in how you approach situations.............. Brian Team A.I. Quote is incomplete to save space! I think Billy has left the room, but I would like to say: As a newbie and reading alot (maybe too many) of the topics/threads it does seem that a qestion or idea put forth is subject to instant vilification and derision. I simply made a statement of an idea that I had about having the option of having the parking coordinates emailed to bring it into the discussion. I was not promoting this idea, at the bottom of my post I stated this is just an idea. In fact since I have several finds under my belt they do not seem as needed. And for putting an idea into the discussion, I got a LOL (doesn't matter who and I am not going back to look) and felt as tho I was perhaps bringing ruin to this hobby. I enjoy the woods, fields and the more woods the better. The further from the trash and so called progress of man, the better the cache. The first cache that I went for was in the city, and being really dumb I went to it as soon as my Merigreen started going up in distance instead of down. This past weekend I had so many maps in the truck, I could not keep up with cache sheets for the 4 caches I was after. At any rate, I want to learn from these forums and contribute to the discussion if I can. but, niether can happen if the experts (experts = he/she knows more that I do at the moment) and those more thoughtful than I, don't at least try to accept our postings as serious discussion with no hidden agenda. Billybob can speak for himself, this was not in his defense but only a newbies observation. And this is not directed at anyone in particular and not Brian for sure. I simply point out a trend that I have seen/percieved on these boards. Thanks for the help when I ask. 25. I asked this same general question in this thread in the GETTING STARTED topic. That was on my first attempt at finding a cache. Now after getting a few finds under my belt, I think it should only be available on request, either through encryption or by emailing the cache owner. I do think that the cache owner should be required to email a set of parking coordinates back to a request. Putting them in encryption (too easy?) does take some of the fun out of the research though. All each of us would have to do is record where we parked when we hid the cache. Then simply email them to someone asking for them. Don't have coordinates for the old caches, no problem. Just grandfather those, but could still do it as cache owner if you pleased. On new caches, make it a requirement to place a cache to have parking coordinates available. The coordinates would not have to be the easiest way in, just where you parked when hiding it. Just an idea, I still feel like a NEWBIE on these boards.
