  1. Further thought on the rating system: For those who think it is too subjective, I think that will dilute out over time if the ratings are averaged. After the rating the number of replys can be shown. If there is only a few ratings you may want to take it with a grain of salt. If is a high number of raters (responders). I think the rating will objectively reflect the cache. The rating should be a required to complete the log in page (such as the found/did not find pull down). Have another pull down that rates the cache, the imput would be confidential and only contribute to a calculated average). I see a problem only if you are the first or second person to log because it would be obvious how you rated it and would weight the rating favorably early on as to not upset the placer of the cache. I really think that if you know that there is a rating system, more time and thought would be taken when planning a cache.
  2. Logged 12 caches yesterday (2/24/07) and a few showed the checkmark but most did not. WAAS UP? BigJoe
  3. Sbell111, I saw your reference to grin'n'bearit's rating scale. I have recently thought it would be nice to have some sort of rating scale (like his) incorporated into the web log page to keep statistics when you look up a cache so you can filter the 1's and 2 grins out when you have only some much time in a geocache rich area and don't need to waste time on a cache that is placed behind a dumpster in a dirty alley filled with trash that has no purpose other than to wish you never spent the effort finding it. I think a rating system would discourage placing caches just for the sake of placing a cache without any redeeming value (puzzle cache, historical site, urban legend site, out of the way marker etc. etc.). Has Groundspeak ever thought of doing this. It could be modified to difficulty 1-5, terrain 1-5, geocache scale (or grins) 1-5. BigJoe.
