They are true heros. http://www.gazettenet.com/07282003/news/7851.htm This is great.....and I noticed I made the same mistake that I bet others have Made!!! the quote is "that SAVE us." not "that SAVED us." I know when I first read it, I put a 'd' in there...it's NOT there, and it makes a world of difference. I know that I've relied on my "breadcrumb" feature to get me back to my bike/car/out of the woods quickly. As far as swamps...yes I've encountered them....Hey I can get dry clothes once i get home. But on the other hand....If I know it's going to be an overnight situation, I'm prepared for it. I have almost everything I need except for cellphone, and considering that they don't work in 90% of the areas I am....why carry the weight. Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  2. I have a few of those collector jars out for caches.... I don't like them, but the ranger requested a clear container. You also want to make sure they are placed in a well shaded spot....otherwise you have a major condensation problem with them. My ammo boxes on the otherhand I don't need to worry about. the one has been flooded several times, and the contents stay nice and dry. my .02 cents Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... 3. Solo Cacher lookign for Other Solo cachers to team up for Enfanta's Event!!!! I have 26 finds and 10 hides to my credit. some of them very difficult. have car, mountain bike, and Garmin GPS. and mounts for said GPS on both bike and car... Enfanta's sending me registration packet... Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  4. Don't forget, Rattlesnakes don't always give warnings either... My current caching attire is caLf-high boots, heavy gators, long pants, long sleeve shirt, and hat regardless of weather... The Hatbill gets the Deet, and the long sleeves help prevent mosquito bites(west Nile Virus). Long pants, gators and boots are good protection against scratches, ticks and hopefully snakes. 6. Some of you may of heard me talk about several Multi-caches....here are the updates.... River Sojourn(5/5), 6 caches from Sunbury to Harrisburg. still in planning. Talking to Riverrats, this is a MULTIDAY cache....unless you have a powerboat there will be NO way to FIND all 6 in one day. And with a powerboat it's still iffy. Starry Starry Night(5/5)...3 Stage Multi designed for Night Time. Stage 1 and Stage 3 have been planned, I got lost getting to stage 2, so it's still in Planning. One I have all coords plotted then it gets submitted to DCNR! BearPaw nighttime(5/5)....Multi stage Cache This one was in planning....But it may be cancelled, which is why I created Starry Starry night. (this was the Blacklight cache) Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  7. If you take part in the Eco-challenge, you are expect to pack out everything you take in. EVERYTHING! Period! But if you don't want to pack it out....find a place off the trail and leave it there(NOT IN WATERSHEDS)... cover with a debris, and let nature take care of it... Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  8. I spray teh stuff on the bill of my ballcap that I wear when I go out.... but if you're concerned about it melting plastic....have you seen what Coke and pepsi do to rust? And some of us drink that stuff! Deet spray it on the Bill of a ball cap, and if you need more. tie a Bandana to your pack that is sprayed.... Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  9. I wish to second her COngrats....and wish to thank her for selecting one of my caches for her 100th find. That she got a FTF was a plus for her.... Congrats Snowflower.... BTW there's a cache pending for the top of that trail you were at. it's not placed yet either, but it also hasn't been prematurely approved. Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  10. Well for Good or Evil, I have my license...just arrived in the Mail....and the top of the license it states. Radio Station Authorization. Wether or not some feel it's a waste of money or whatever. It would be a conflict of Principals for me to violate FCC rules while trying to enforce COPYRIGHT rules for my photos. The same with MUSIC...if I use a song in a slide-show presentation, I make sure that I buy the CD so the artist gets their due, but that is a whole entire can of worms! Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  11. If you're depending on a cell phone to save your butt, you shouldn't be out to start with. I don't own one, I don't intend to own one, 99% of them don't work in regions where I go. Sat phones are a different story, maybe someday. But if I am owning one of them, it's becasue $1000 is a small price to get help. Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  12. Enfanta....I don't know if this will work, or if it is what you want? Can you place a cache, make it "home of the Finder's Keeper's" and you place your cards in there. A visitor to your Home cache gets a card and when they find it, they log it. it's Not the same cache so it shouldn't violate the logging the same cache twice policy. I don't know if that is what you want, or if it'll be allowed. Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....

Jeremy Irish Groundspeak - The Language of Location I am glad to see that MILES will be a Preference.... 16. I have gone though this process several times. with at least 4 different DCNR reps. The quickest was 24 hours, the longest was nearly 2 months. PNDI is one of the qualifiers, there may be others. I beleive that teh best procedure is to scout out the site, submit to GEOCACHING(with notice that pending approval), printout a copy of teh cache page, stable that to your DCNR Form and turn in to the proper office. DO NOT place your cache until you receive Approval from DCNR...once you receive then place.... The Rangers ARE checking the sites!!! Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... 17. Geocaching is DOwn...it appears to be due to a huge volume of traffic...but right now it IS down Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  18. I met with a park ranger today to get approval for a new cache...I found out that the trail that it located near is 'Thousand Step Trail" this is not to be confused with the other one that is rated very highly.... I am calling it "Bottom of Thousand Steps" Now in a different twist, I will be placing a second cache at the top of this trail. I have to meet with the Forestry Dept for approval for this part. look for it.... Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  19. you will find that membership has it's Privileges.... as a member you can get Pocket Queries, that can give you ALL the Unfound caches near you, and not look at those you found. Plus you can use those pocket Quries with "Watcher" and see the cache data offline. Of course....without membership...you don't know about these things. Or if you do have membership, it's an item that can be overlooked. Good Luck... Robert Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  20. They are selected areas inside of state Forests. Such as the Hook Natural area where the Hook Challenge is located. The Hook Natural area is Marked on regional DCNR maps. The Placer for that cache had Permission to place Hook Challenge from a local park ranger, But I hear today from the District Forestry Office that, That cache shouldn't be there. I have an appointment with that park ranger on the 7th of June. and I'm going to check on who has control over that area. And maybe we can recuit the Park Ranger on our behalf to keep the Hook Challenge in Place. Robert Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  21. Ok FOlks....I just stopped in at a District Office to get Approval for a new cache.. While there I was informed that as of MAY 1st all caches that have NOT been Approved should be removed, and that NO Caches should be in a ANY designated natural or Wilderness area. Thought I would pass the word on this. BTW I would like the log books on all removed caches along with the ON_line logs of the same. I want to see if I can submit to someone to SHOW how much inpact geocaching does have. Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  22. what do you need it for? Maptech has great On-line maps thatmaptech you can print out. Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
  23. isn't there a MAJOR smoke Jumper's school in Northern California, just give it a general goal, and it's like to visit several that people have never heard about. Like Firetowers....there used to be hundreds of them all over PA, now there aren't so many. here's a possible goal. "hi I'm 'Smokey' I want to visit every firetower I can, and I would love to see a jump school. Extremely interested in visiting the Northwest." Good Luck Robert Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....

Seems some writer went a long way to not say "Geocaching"! Anyway, these poor saps evidently couldn't get a good lock because they found something other than the cache they were looking for! Wherever you go, there you are! They couldn't say Geocaching...they were DIGGING up a cache...We don't dig...it must of been that .....Cache Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... 25. Noticed....there are several bugs with well over 300 miles on them, that are still in NEW YORK. I only noticed this casue my bug has 350 miles and is back near the beginning. But it's not the leader in Milage...I think Heavy Duty has that, with over 400 miles(at least it did travel out of state) Give me a Tall ship, and a Star to steer her bye... The White Fleet....
