  1. Congrats on hitting your First Major Milestone..... and Thanks for all your help....BTW Grandmother has sent out a TB...you should see it!!!Grandmother sends a hug!!
  2. I'm Impressed Also...... I understand that you're going to try again before Snake Season.....be sure to let me know....I may make the attempt with you...
  3. I tried to find this Cache when I went to pickup "be-Mine" travel bug.....and while I searched and dug snow in several places I couldn't find it.... that was a couple weeks ago....I expect that it's under even more snow now...
  4. CCD's post may of been Long Winded, but lots of parks do have senitive areas which is why Permission is very important. Obvisously the cache Hidder did NOT seek proper Permissions, or you would NOT of had this encounter with the Park official. The issue about Mushroom hunters going off-trail with a permit, isn't about them going off trail so much as controling the number of them going off-trail. hense the permit. The TPTB from my encounters with them are, that Hidders are to do everything they can to insure LEGAL placements, and correct those that are found to be in sensitive areas. you did the right thing......
  5. I try to leave my signature item at every cache I visit.....even If I take NOTHINg...it's about the hunt, not the treasure...but sometime the cache container is too full, too small, or just in too bad of shape. geo-Packrat PS to the State of Florida....I be very happy to hand over any and All treasure I find off the coast of your state, provided you Provide and cover all my costs associated with the finding of said treasure. But I understand, that you're not interested in that....so neither am I interested in handing over the results of My efforts.
  6. My closest Unfound 'sits" at 21 miles, but it's one of those can't log this one, but this is what I want. the next closest one is 23.5 miles as the crow flies they just are getting futher and futher away..... I wish a bunch of new cachers would place some caches....within a 20 RADIUS, there are only 4 caches that are NOT mine....
  7. to add to the adventrue of teh BE-Mine Travel BUG....the local paper final published it. but it's not on their website, and I don't know if it made the National wire...so I scanned it and place JPG images on my website. here are the links the photo and the story ScoobyDooers, I have a laminated copy for you!!!!! Robert
  8. Well the Story has made our local paper, and takes almost half a page with the photo. I checked the papers' Website, and I don't see it there. and I have no idea if it went out on the wire. I will scan and post a bit later today
  9. hey that's some cache container!!!! is it full of McToys, or just Mctrash....LOL
  10. You can make an ALL clear Ammo box style container out of acrylic, using the same techniques used to make acrylic fishtanks. The closing top uses the same style pin and clasp closure as the ammo can. the trouble is....The resulting box will of cost you close to $100 what makes the AMMO can so very ideal besides being very rugged, is it's CHEAP! if you want a rugged clear box and money's isn't a worry look into some of teh older UNDERWATER camera housings...But it's more money than I would want to spend for a cache container... good luck....
  11. After looking at IV's post....I think I'm bout 50 miles east of him. I have 475 caches within that 50 mile radious. up to 5 mile radius 2 out to 10 mile radius 4 (6 total) out to 20 mile radius 4 (10 total) out to 25 mile radius 6 (16 total 8 of which are mine) so there are about 460 caches between 25 and 50 miles from my house. that is total caches....
  12. I'm looking to see if any of my west coast cousins are also cachers. I don't know all of them, but some of the last names would be Titus, Prenguber or Giron. there are several others...but only checking on these names for now.
  13. Right now I would say Choices might qualify....it's a very hard cache. And I think it's safe to say, that it be near impossible to do right now. At least to do it properly. those first 2 stages are not very snow friendly. Anyone else who's done it, do you agree???
  14. The Be Mine Travel bug Has nearly completed it's Goal. Thanks to the efforts of LOTS and LOTS of people. I would like to thank the PeconicBay Sailors and KBer for their efforts in the movement of this bug and especially Scoobydooers for His FINE sewing job and the resurrection of this TB when it went MIA. The complete log history of this bug has been printed out, photos, and along with an information sheet, a Best Wishes form Geocaching Community have all been laminated will be presented in the near future. there maybe one more footnote to this journey..... happy trails you to all.....

    2000 Steps

I may want to try this.....it won't be a landmark number for me, but then again i've done so many outstanding caches. Let us know meeting time...
  19. Stand by me is a little over a quarter mile walk(Milton State park). 5-10 minutes if your GPS is right on, and you look at the hint closely. river of dreams should take you about 5 minutes from your car to found. (parking in Susquehanna State park is key here) There are Two at SHikellamy OverLook(SUNBURY) Cliffside(don't do if there is snow on ground) and Off the Beaten Path which could be done in about an hour round trip, parking on the side of the road at the gate(DO NOT BLOCK the GATE) (but I wouldNOT want to do these before a lng trip)
  20. I checked my mapsoftware(topofusion) and GPX files...the only cache on your route that doesn't require a 15-30 mnute stop would be Lycoming Airport Penny cache} The other caches will require a car side trip then a short hike. Good Luck and Safe trip.... geo-packrat

    Road Trip

I am thinking of doing a road trip to Jersey on Saturday to insure a certain bug gets to it's designation safely . Once bug is safely in-hand then I will visit caches on teh way home. if any one is interested, I have room for 1 more, and maybe up to 3 more cachers. any interested cachers let me know.... Geo-Packrat
  23. I have been contacted by the reporter who's been assigned to cover the story on this bug. We have agreed to meet after the Holidays. I am hoping that the bug can take advantage of people traveling to visit their families to get a big jump.
  24. Seeing where I sat down to take care of cache business isn't going to help anyone. Cause after I find the puppy, I take it a distance away open it up, look it over, read/sign log book then seal it back up, and hide it again. Then I procede to mess the area up. Hopefully by the time I'm done, you're still going to need your GPS to tell you where it is...
  25. Thank You All for all your assistance.... I am going to go with the assumption that the Original TB is MIA, we can move along a replacement such as been discussed with laminated paper copy tag and heart shaped keychain or whatever. and when it reaches here i will replace with a small plush toy. Robert PS> I have been in Email contact with Everyone who's listed in association with this TB.
