  1. While playing with the iPhone back in January, I discovered that it was possible to log them I logged one but it got deleted by a reviewer - despite it fulfilling all the logging requirements (see photo on profile) Some other cachers also logged finds which have also been deleted but some backdated them to 2005 These have NOT been deleted which seems a bit unfair. The reviewers know about this but have chosen not to intervene How do I know? I have a bookmark list containing all of the Locless caches and I got notified each time one was logged Mark
  2. Or series caches set by individual cachers but overseen by one person such as the Church Micros caches Mark
  3. Just noticed this thread (thanks to an emailed nudge ) Yes, the whole of the park is a zone with four zones inside it which can be visited in any order The four inner zones only become active once you have reached the park from any direction I initially wrote and tested it using my Mio P550 but it works fine on our Oregon as well. I don't know if anyone has had any success playing it on the Android. One cacher mentioned to me that he was going to use a Blackberry with the openwherigo whatever player on it but he hasn't logged a find yet! I work right next to the park and I can meet you any lunchtime (Mon-Thurs) for assistance Mark PS. The entire source code (with a few key bits removed) is available here
  4. ok, will do! If you DO find the remains of the old cache, don't forget to log a Find as well Mark
  5. Nearly three years might as well be indefinitely! Mark
  6. Drifting off topic slightly: A few months ago I (MrsD would have nothing to do with it ) figured out where a a number of new caches had been placed and went to claim FTF on one before they were published. The smug feeling soon passes when you realise that half the fun of FTF is beating everyone else to it. As it happened the series got held up so I went out again once they were published because the date in the logbook was so old! (I wouldn't bother doing it again ) Mark
  7. When we set our Abberley Advent[ure] series last Christmas we originally planned to get one published per day from 1st December to 24th However, the local FTF hounds weren't put off with going out every day (or night) so after the first half dozen or so we got the remainder published in one go. This meant that there two or three other cachers got FTFs as well...
  8. Just avoid the game of British Pirate Bulldogs® It's bound to end in tears! Mark
  9. Tell them here PuP requested this feature some time ago, he must have friends in high places Mark
  10. That's not the point! The point is, that every month 'improvements' are made to the site which which no-one wants and we then have to find a work around Meanwhile, genuine bugs hang around for years! May sound harsh but it's true... Mark
  11. Here you go Right click on the monkey and click New User Script Give it a name and namespace add http://www.geocaching.com/* in the includes and click OK This will then open a text file in notepad or simular Add this under // ==/UserScript== GM_addStyle("#fdbk_tab {display:none}"); Mark
  12. It's on next Wednesday (7th) 8pm BBC2.
  13. It's just [yet] another irritation Has anyone figured out how to hide it yet? Thanks Mark
  14. I know what you are saying but I fail to see how anyone can be annoyed at finding something they actually go looking for! How many people actually: clicked on someone's user name to see their profile, clicked 'Geocaches' tab, clicked on the 'All Geocache Hides' link, and then got annoyed that the could see caches that they had on their ignore list? And then what percentage of these people went on to complain about it? How many people set up a PQ like Potato Finder suggested and really like the way that the preview differs from the actual results? Mark
  15. I realise I am wasting my time even typing this but hey-ho... If I add a cache to the ignore list it is because I don't want it to appear in PQs, yet by default it will still appear in PQs If I look at someone's profile and click to view what caches they have set, ignored caches are not visible This has been mentioned before and it's just PLAIN DAFT! I look at the 'Caches Owned' page because I want to see what caches are owned! Why on earth are they hidden on that page? Thanks Mark
  16. Our counties map from findstatgen/GSAK works fine! One thing that was good about INATN was the ability to compare your stats with other people's 'Top Tens' etc. This functionality hasn't been available for a while though and obviously can't be done with GSAK Mark
  17. Yup! Sounds like a normal weekend to me! Mark
  18. When I start coding a cartridge I base it on the one before and add bits to it so our last three are pretty similar in the way they work: They can't be played in the emulator The instructions are all jpgs rather than text so they cannot be seen by opening the file in notepad The final cords are derived from answers entered during the walk - wrong answer will give the wrong co-ords (I added a checksum to the last one though so it actually tells you if you've made a mistake ;-) ) Would I share my code? Well I uploaded the entire source for one of them about a year or so ago and got no feedback whatsoever Although our Wherigos work, I wouldn't really want others just to copy them - I'd rather they figured out their own way of doing things so as to keep new ideas coming Mark
  19. Why do you assume that the OP's field notes are not unique to each cache? Anyway, 44 clicks per log seems a bit strange. surely it's only two or three clicks each... What else are you having to do apart from clicking 'Compose Log' and 'Submit Log Entry' ? Mark
  20. For heavens sakes don't give them ideas Deci There are some (not specifically called Travelodge though), they are very welcome and more useful than many seemingly pointless drive-bys. We've used Travelodges and Premier Inns a few times and it's great when you arrive late at night and there is a nearby cache to stretch your legs/give the dogs a last walk before bed. eg GC209A9 and GC1NKPX Mark
  21. I was under the impression (ie. advised by a reviewer some time ago) that this was not possible. Once a username has been used, it can not be reused even if it no longer in use Mark
  22. I can see the logic in it but it seems a bit unnecessary as the results will only hang around for a week anyway. Perhaps the 'Are you sure you wish to delete X PQ(s)' alert should warn that the results will be deleted as well...
  23. I've been running some PQs and reached my 40 PQ limit so I deleted some. I was a bit surprised to see that the results also got deleted from the Pocket Queries Ready for Download tab Why is this? Are we only allowed to have 40 results as well? (Even though I actually only had about seven on the Ready for Download tab) Luckily, I'd already downloaded the ones which got deleted...
  24. drsolly As well as being Europe's number 1 cacher, if it wasn't for him your pc would probably be riddled with viruses! (or viri) Mark
  25. GC167M6 must date from October 2007! Bagsying the area for that long seems a bit excessive! Mark
