  1. CONGRATULATIONS TO VANGUARD3 ON REACHING YOUR 1000TH CACHE TODAY.
  2. I enjoy looking through the caches to see what others have left. Didn't realise bubbles would spill as they always appear well sealed but will think twice before leaving them again....and the scented candles, I hope they are safe to leave in ammo boxes. My favourite find was a cache which I thought I had finished and then discovered a little twist at the end which resulted in a 'Congratulations' slip to keep.
  3. Went back to cache and got the number, have now put it right....feels much better. Good tip for new cachers, like BlueDeuce suggests, keep a note of the numbers and my own advice....wear your glasses when you log.
  4. Thanks for your reply, I think you are probably right as they are not too far apart.
  5. Thanks for your advice BlueDeuce, tried the U thing but not lucky. Guess I will just go back and get the number and be more careful in the future. By the way Grayboots is not related, weird coincidence.
  6. I need some help. Today I have dropped off a diabetes TB in The Water Tower cache and a diabetes TB in Buryed Treasure 2-The Hoard. However I have mixed them up on the logs and can't see how to get the right ones on the right cache pages. I only have the number for one of them and it now seems as if I still have one in my posession. Can anyone help. I've sorted one now but still can't move Chaochou TB to the correct cache.
  7. I assume everyone I see must be caching and am always surprised when I log a find that no one has been there on the same day. Cakemaker has given a good description of me but you should include the back-pack crammed full of swaps, spare pens, spare log books, napkins for damp caches, printouts of caches, battery shapes bulging from pockets, an enthusiastic looking person accompanied by a resigned looking person
  8. Me-female. Call husband Mr. Blueboots although he doesn't have his own log on. He has accompanied me on all caches so far. We enjoy the time spent together but one day he may choose his own name as he travels a great deal.
  9. You do have to sign the log to log a find. The owner is quite within their rights to delete the log entry if there is no corresponding log in the cache, unless some other arrangement was agreed. Thanks for clearing that up for me SidandBob. I did think that was a bit odd.
  10. I keep learning all the time. I do take trackables, without swapping, to move them on. I always swap for non-trackable items. I didn't realise you could log a 'discover' without taking the trackable and I have already seen trackables but left them in the cache (won't from now on). I also thought you had to sign the log in order to log a find but have recently noted some logs where the box was not even opened. Reading the forums seems the best way to become familiar with the rules.
  11. I'm not sure how I feel about this either, but my gut feeling is that it should be a hobby that is spread by word of mouth to friends and relatives rather than by the media. Sadly there will always be people who are not prepared to play by the rules. Paying for membership will never exclude the risk.
  12. I discovered geocaching from a link on the bookcrossing site and was so sure I would enjoy it that I ordered my etrex Venture almost immediately. My husband agreed to join me and although we have only managed 12 so far, I think we are hooked for life. Friends and family are gradually showing interest and have begun to join us although some still think 'she's mad'. We are hoping this new obsession will raise our fitness levels, especially if I repeat wrong co-ordinates like today when I turned a ten minute find into a two hour walk, but we laughed and enjoyed the detour.
  13. When I find a cache and make a log entry is this automatically forwarded to the owner as an email or should I send a separate email?
