Explorist 600 Issue

Recommended Posts

After transferring geocache files to my Explorist 600, it always locks up on the screen that shows the options for usb management. It cannot be powered down or taken to another screen. I have to remove the battery to restart the unit. Any ideas on anything to try?

Other than this one issue, I think the unit is great.

Dunno what the problem is. What's *supposed* to happen is that if you click the joystick, you can switch to power only. Does this problem persist even with the removal of the data cable (or removing it from the computer)?

Does this happen only using the Conversion Manager for data transfer? (i.e., can you drag and drop a file on the SD card without using the CM without it locking up?)

On reading the OP, I see that the reference is to the Geocache Manager locking things up, not the Conversion Manager. Mea culpa.

mine did the same thing with mine in the first 3 hours of owning it. I think I just went to fast for it when pressing the buttons, I've been unable to duplicate it again.

also right when i opened the box plugged in the battery and powered on for the first time, I tried to create a gps pinpoint with no acquision yet.it give me a negivate reading for both n and w gps wsg84 setting, that I've not been able to reduplicate also.

but I was indoors in the middle of my house on the bottom floor away from all windows and it still got a lock. :(

the satellite lock is much better but the epe seems to jump all over the place or it could just be a faster update for the new models. any clue.

I think they took out or reduced the moving average aspects of positioning that smoothed out those kinds of fluctuations. I have seen (and several other people have mentioned) that the explorist doesn't seem to show the boomerang/overshoot phenomenon that sometimes showed on the Meridians.

From a geocaching standpoint, this is better. From just about every other standpoint that I might be able to think of, the smoothing was nice. However, I think most people here who found themselves having to back up to a cache would feel the former far outweighs the latter(s).
