Wintertime
I was just watching the TV movie "Supervolcano" on the Discovery Channel, and in the post-show documentary narrated by Tom Brokaw, there's a discussion of the uplift that has occurred in one part of the Yellowstone caldera. It's about 35-40 minutes in, and talks about geologist Bob Smith noticing some changes in the lake level over a 17-year period. Anyway, they talk about how scientists have used some nearby benchmarks to help measure the changes, and there's a few-second clip of Y 8, a benchmark outside the visitor center at Mammoth Hot Springs. Okay, not exactly a starring role. :-) But still, it's fun to see a benchmark appear on national TV. (Actually, international; Discovery Canada is airing the show tonight, too. I don't know whether BBC viewers got this particular post-show documentary.) Patty Quote Link to comment
