BilgeRat
Hi! I'm new here, and saw this thread and thought I'd ask. I just got a 60c; it replaces an eTrex. One of the things that I use the gps for is finding remote boat ramps on the Lower Mississippi for our crew changes. Would anybody know which software would be better for showing these tertiary roads along the river and the levees? I'd hate to have to spend what the mapping software costs, just to find that it was not too good for what I had in mind. I intend to get City Select for our routes to and from, and for our family trips but I still wonder if Topo would be better for work--- Thanx! Tom Quote Link to comment
Bobthearch
I wonder if the "Waterways" software has those mapped? -Bob Quote Link to comment
+park2
I have BlueCharts for the west coast and there are *no* roads visible along he Fraser, etc. in them. Canada Topo is pretty good so I'd check Topos for your area. Quote Link to comment
+NightPilot
Go to the Garmin site and use the demo software there to look at the areas you want with all the software, and see which does what you want the best. You can preview all the Garmin mapping software for free there. Quote Link to comment
BilgeRat
Thanks folks! I have a Army Corps of Engineers levee map [paper] for the area from Memphis up to Cairo, so a pretty good comparison should be possible. I'll give it a thorough lookover.
