+bthomas Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 I'm a counter, and tomorrow I may reach my goal of goals, 1000 finds. Other numeralogy: finds per day, days per 100 finds, FTF (and the equally hard STF), 4.5+ stars, bugs, unfounds in nearest 100 caches, number of jars of peanut butter turned into geocaches. Quote
+bthomas Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 BTW, the other side of the coin is that I'm still experiencing excellent caches. Yesterday, I tandem paddled a kayak for the first time, 1-2 miles across a lake to get 2 caches. Tonight I was on a flashlight reflector hunt with a FTF team vs 2 other teams we saw beaming up the mountain. The adventure is the thing. Quote
+Divine Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 I have to say the numbers are one big motivating factor for me. Couple of months ago I was only dreaming of hitting the cache-dense capital area of Finland. When I finally got a reason to travel there 3 different times I didn't hesitate to get as many caches as I only could while there. I planned the routes quite carefully before leaving, and did as much research of the places and the caches as I could. The results of those three different geocache expeditions can be read on my profile page. I pretty much found all the easy ones there, and I now have found about the half of the traditional caches in my country. Yes, that feels pretty good. - I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory. - Quote
+jollybgood Posted June 11, 2003 Author Posted June 11, 2003 Very kewl. Just read through all the replies. Indeed it seems people cache for different reasons. I think that's one of the reasons I like the sport. You can take it and make it what works best for you personally (ummm, within the loose fraimwork of established rules/protocol of course). I suppose that's why the discussions here are so lively (and sometimes heated). So many differing views on whats's important and what's not. Keeps things interesting. ;D Jolly R.
