UTM'er
I have an Etrex basic and want to use EasyGPS which asks for an elevation for every waypoint. I also "hike high" once in a while and am wondering if my Etrex (basic) will give me Elevation readings? Can someone please help me?! Thanks for any info! John Quote Link to comment
+raouljan
yes it will.. Turn on you eTrex... wait for it to lock page to the "compass" screen. use the "up/down" buttons (the two on the upper left) to scroll the bottom window through its display... elevation is between "location" and "bearing" mark a waypoint go to to "menu" and "up/down" to waypoints and select the waypoint you just marked At the bottom of the screen you will see the elevation and the lat/long Quote Link to comment
UTM'er
Ok, When I get to REVIEW WAYPOINT a tthe bottom only the lat long is shown. Might this be because I'm using the 2.05 software? Quote Link to comment
+raouljan
We are talking about the yellow eTrex, right? I am running 2.14 .. but I remember elevation being there.. always... even on my old '12. Can't hurt to update! Quote Link to comment
UTM'er
I geuss I need to get a cable. I haven't been able to get a cable yet but maybe it's time! Thansk for trying. Quote Link to comment
+Seay me
Check e-bay for a cable. You can pick one up for about 10 bucks. Not bad when compaired to 35 dollars or so wanted by Garmin. Chip Quote Link to comment
+Katetrex
I wouldn't trust the elevation readings. I have been high and dry and the unit told me my elevation was minus 40feet. I seem to remember having more than 4 satellites and fairly strong signals. Quote Link to comment
