Timcup
I'm having trouble downloading the waypoints to my mapsource program on my PC. WHEN I try and open the downloaded waypoints the message open up and says it can't open that kind of file extention. Is easyGPS compatable with Mapsource? Quote Link to comment
+Rubberhead
No, Mapsource is not compatible with EasyGPS. Your best bet is to upload the information into your GPS from EasyGPS then download and save it from Mapsource. Quote Link to comment
+Hikenit
What you also need is GeoBuddy. What I do is download the loc file. Open it in Geobuddy And save file as a Mapsource waypoint file. Then import the file into Mapsource. Make sure you choose the second option when importing the file The first option will not work. Then you can change the icons, names, etc. Then uplaod the waypoints to the GPS. if you want. If anyone has a better way I would love to hear it. This way works great for me on the Pocket Query Generated files. Hope this helps! Quote Link to comment

Your best bet is to upload the information into your GPS from EasyGPS then download and save it from Mapsource. gpsbabel will do it. Get it from http://gpsbabel.sourceforge.net gpsbabel -i geo -f blah.loc -o pcx -F blah.wpt Then in Mapsource, just do a file->import->blah.wpt and you're good to go. If you want to bypass mapsource completely, do a gpsbabel -i geo -f blah.loc -o garmin -F NAME_OF_SERIAL_PORT If you don't like GC numbers in your unit, add "-s" to any of the above. Works for Magellans and Mapsend, too. Oh, and about a dozen other formats. I've done this for thousands of waypoints. Works pretty well. (Anyone with information on the current mapsource format *not the PCX format* that's willing to share is encouraged to contact me...) Quote Link to comment
