+Team GeoCan
My $5 Magellan is proving it's worth. Bought it at Kmart's going out of business sale as a "post-demo" clearance. The problem is the unit ALWAYS shows I haven't moved. (It only recieves ONE sattelite signal.) So it is time to look for another one... Being on fixed income, I am looking for a "good" reliable used unit. My three kids are in school between 7 AM and 2 PM and I could be looking for the local caches... or preparing one or two. Any recommendations on which units to AVOID? and recommendations on which to look for? What features are most often needed and which are fluff? (Of Course I want ALL the features but have to adjust to my budget...) jef If it is not acceptable, it is worth talking about.... Quote Link to comment
+quakemap
the fact that it receives one satellite is promising. Have you tried to update firmware before trashing it? initializing it may also help - setting time, leaving it on for an hour... it may think it is in Africa and tries to locate satellites there... These things are either 100% dead, or 100% alive, there is rarely in between... http://www.quakemap.com - redefining Easy... Quote Link to comment
+Team GeoCan
It is a VERY basic magellan, (a model 100?) I think it is so basic, and out dated that It probably would be better to just replace it. (No changeable antenna, and eats batteries like popcorn.) If it is not acceptable, it is worth talking about.... Quote Link to comment
