mmp
I will be taking an extended car trip with my family (and etrex and laptop) this summer in the western United States. I am looking for mapping software that includes a function for finding, for example, the nearest 7-11 or the nearest grocery store or gas station. (I won't have internet access in the car or I could use, for example, Yahoo yellow pages.) I tried reading about the various MapSource products on the Garmin website but they do not appear to offer this function. Does anyone have any recommendations (short of buying a full in-car navigation system)? Thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment
OFF RODE
Try MS Streets and Trips 2002....It has motels and gas stations but I dont know about 7/11s. "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra Quote Link to comment

MapSource MetroGuide includes many businesses and lets you search for the nearest ones or by going through an alphabetical listing. The categories are: Food & Drink Lodging (hotels/motels/B&Bs/cmpgrnds) Attractions Entertainment Shopping Services (incl. auto fuel and repair) Transportation Emergency & Govt. (incl. hospitals & police stations) Certainly not as complete as a real yellow-page book, but very useful when traveling. Quote Link to comment
