Geo-Troll
I was happily cacheing here in the Tampa area until around 2:30 or so and then wham!! My display shows that I am driving in the Bay and then a few minutes later I am 5 miles to the North , so forth and so on. So I gave up and went home. Any other solar experiences by others? +EraSeek
Check the planetary k-plot at this link. Magnetic disturbance has peaked the chart at k-9 on Oct29. http://www.sec.noaa.gov/rt_plots/kp_3d.html "See the wonderous works of Providence! The uncertainty of human things!" Kerry.
That latest storm warnings have issues with ionospheric disturbances 100 times worse than normal and for GPS users in the thick of these possible disturbances there might be some issues with the performance of ionospheric models. Even WADGPS such as WAAS won't handle these types of ionospheric disturbances well (if at all) at all and from some reports compass behaviour in parts of Canada is eratic to say the least. Cheers, Kerry. I never get lost everybody keeps telling me where to go Quote Link to comment
LowranceTracker1
Yeah here in Texas the signals are screwed. Problem with WAAS is it doesn't work well to begin with, but since it is satellite in nature it's screwed too. If you're using DGPS, you would have accuracy because DGPS is land based. If it isn't hard, it isn't worth doing right? Quote Link to comment
