Forget MapBlast & Mapquest???

Recommended Posts

Please excuse me if this is not an original discovery, but I couldn't find any references to it on the various bulletin boards...

I don't want to spoil anyone's fun, but I have just figured out a way of accessing U B D street level maps on the web using geographic coords... This method displays the location of a city located cache down to an accuracy of about 11m...

I am very aware that finding the rough location of the cache is part of the fun, so I am not going to broadcast this method to everyone straight away, but would appreciate people's feedback on whether I should share this knowledge or not...

As far as I can see it does not give us any more advantage over our US compatriates, where MapBlast & MapQuest's coverage is a little more accurate & complete...

What do you think???

Should I make our life easier, or will it take some of the fun away?

I think its fine. I use Mapsource to get an idea of where a cache is so I can drive to the general area without constantly refering to the GPS. Many people would use a map in the same way.

If you're interested in the method I mentioned, please see: link

I have already approached geocaching.com to see if they can include this as an automated link for Australian caches...
