+Eternal Pensioners
Hi there, can anybody help a technical idiot to download caches from a windows 10 laptop to a megellan explorist, I unfortunately really don't understand computer terms, it is very hard work to write everything down and enter waypoints, which is what I have been doing. Is this the end of my geocaching days? Quote Link to comment
Pup Patrol
Hi there, can anybody help a technical idiot to download caches from a windows 10 laptop to a megellan explorist, I unfortunately really don't understand computer terms, it is very hard work to write everything down and enter waypoints, which is what I have been doing. Is this the end of my geocaching days? If you were still a Premium Member, you would make use of Pocket Queries. But your profile indicates that you are no longer a PM, so that's out. The forum title of "Premium Members" does not go away when a PM has lapsed. Help Center → Finding a Geocache → Searching for a Geocache 2.10. How do I download geocaches to my GPS device? http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=532 Here's what I do: (I save gpx files now, as PM) 1.) create a folder on the computer. Call it something like "geocaching loc files" 2.) save the loc files of the caches you are interested in searching in that folder 3.) use GPSBabel to transfer them from the computer to your gps http://www.gpsbabel.org/ I've created tons of folders, actually. I make new folders for specific locations or dates. B. Edited January 2, 2016 by Pup Patrol Quote Link to comment
+corkzak
I use Windows 10. Instead of the edge browser in Windows 10 I use the windows explorer that comes with Windows 10. This works. Just click send to gps and it works for Magellan and my Garmin. Quote Link to comment
