Banner html code on profile page not showing

Today someone pointed out to me that the standard way of showing the html code for a banner is not working on the public profile.

Normally you would change the < and > with < and > to show the html code for your banner. After saving your profile however this is automatically corrected back to < and >, resulting in showing the banner instead of the code.

A way to solve this is to change < and > with < and >, but you now need to change this every time you save your profile, since the < and > are converted automatically to < and > after the first save and to < and > after the second save and the image is appearing again.

Unless this is intended behavior, I hope this can be resolved.
