+Stan&Ruth Posted March 9, 2013 Share Posted March 9, 2013 I can't get my Etrex Vista C to work with my new notebook which has the Windows 8 operating system. I tried Gsak, Easy GPS and Garmin BaseCamp. I spent 2 1/2 hours on the phone with the Garmin Support....with NO SUCCESS. Using remote access we installed the latest USB driver. I tried a new USB cable. Both the old and new cable work perfectly with my old notebook running Vista operting system. It may be that when they developed the USB driver for Windows 8 they did not test it on the Vista C. The Vista C is no longer supported. As an experiment I brought our Garmin Nuvi in from the car and was immediately able to download waypoints into it using Gsak. So, my questions are: 1. Has anyone used a Vista C with Windows 8? 2. How about the Etrex Vista CHX with Windows 8? That is current and supported. If that works I may purchase one. Quote Link to comment
