mr.mooseman08
I am new to GPS and have the garmin Base Camp software. I am trying to create a route to go to a camping spot. I read that if auto routing is not selected then the route appears as a straight line and if autorouting is selected then the program will automatically follow roads, etc. well, auto routing doesn't work for me even when autorouting is selected it gives me a straight line route as if it is set for direct route. Any suggestions? I would greatly appreciate them. Quote Link to comment
seldom_sn
Auto routing only works with a routable map. Do you know that your map is routable? Edited July 1, 2012 by seldom_sn Quote Link to comment

seldom_sn
Thanks. I didn't know it had to be a routable map. how do you tell if it is or isn't? If you have a routable map and you select any profile but "direct" in BaseCamp a magenta line will route you over the road, or trail from your start point to your end point. If you just get a straight line between start and end points and your profile is not set to "direct" your map isn't routable. If your where you got your map from doesn't describe the map as routable it probably isn't. Edited July 1, 2012 by seldom_sn Quote Link to comment
