+RootDoc
I have a GPSMAP 76s with Roads and Recreation v3.03 that I use for caching. Are there any newer street maps that I can use with this unit? Thanks for any information. Norm. Quote Link to comment
+myotis
wow that brings back memories. City Navigator 2011.3 is the most recent street map. You can also get free choices that are much more up to date than what you have at gpsfile.depot.com but unlike City Navigator, they will not give you turn by turn directions. Quote Link to comment
+RootDoc
Thanks Myotis. Yes it is an oldie, but still a very good unit for geocaching. Accurate and reliable! I am limited by the amount of memory available---24mb. City navigator map segments are too large for the 76s. Georgia by itself is 26+ mb. Does any one know of any smaller maps? Thanks again. snowfleurys
Look at gpsfiledepot. Georgia Topo. Don't need contour lines, US Planimetric - South East. File sizes average 1 to 2 Mb. Use MapSource or BaseCamp to select the quads of interest and only transfer those to the GPSr. Quote Link to comment
+RootDoc
Thank you snowfleurys, The US Planimetric map was just what I need. I already had the Georgia Topo map from filedepot, but never knew about the other. I also tried the OpenStreetMaps, but they were larger in size and just covered a smaller area. Thanks to everyone and Happy New Year. Norm Quote Link to comment
