+czechyour6
I have a sportrak pro that has been on ice since new, long story but son's gf threw away battery plug, I got a used broken model for parts, now when I power it up, it says that a map cant be found and stays frozen there and wont power down any way I have found other than pulling batt. I thought these units had base maps in them, I have the explorist 500 and know how to fiddle with maps, etc, waiting on a usb to serial cable adapter so I can plug it in and see inside its brain, well storage anyway. Any ideas on why base map isnt found and can you even install a base map? Thanks Jake Edited September 4, 2010 by czechyour6 Quote Link to comment
+czechyour6
The actual mssg when powered up says " Unit currently contains no map ! initiating upload " but then it just freezes there Quote Link to comment
+PeoriaBill
Hello, It can take some effort to recover or "unbrick" a magellan GPS. I saved a Meridian, but it took awhile. I think that you will need to do a hard reset. The article I am referencing will give you the key strokes to do that. You may have to try several times before it works. There are a couple of other articles out there that discuss fixing your GPS and you may need to do some further research. http://sites.google.com/site/rayjeromejobs/magellanwaasfix Peoia Bill :>) Quote Link to comment
xyzee
Check out the Collection of FAQs at the top of the page, and scroll down to Magellan. Lots of good info there, as well as clicking on the yahoo groups SporTrak Map page when all else fails. Also: http://gpsinformation.net/MeridianFAQv2_0.pdf Most of the Meridian fixes work for the SporTrak. Some regular helper info can be found from the Magellan Legacy page, scroll down to the FAQ page at the bottom for the SporTrak and the Meridian. # 13 in the Meridian can help with some problems. I have had to use none of the above fixes, for my "Pro", in over 6 years of use. Good luck! Quote Link to comment
