GETTING STARTED ■Download a Georgia State Park Geo-Challenge PassPort or just the Grid Sheet. ■Get the GPS coordinates at www.Geocaching.com for the Georgia State Parks Geo-Challenge locations ■Start your search and locate one or all caches using a hand-held GPS unit. The cache containers are sealed ammo boxes labeled as a Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites geocache. Caches are located in 42 Georgia state parks. (Click here for a list of participating parks.) ■When you find a Geo-Challenge cache, log your name and any comments on the logbook inside the cache and stamp your PassPort grid sheet with the unique stamp for that specific park. ■Be sure to follow the Leave No Trace guidelines www.GeorgiaStateParks.org/LeaveNoTrace -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRAVEL BUGS Follow the Traveling Gophers on www.Geocaching.com. There are 58 Georgia State Park & Historic Sites travel bugs moving around the country. Be on the lookout for them and help them get to a new destination. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EARLY BIRD PRIZES ■Be quick. There is a “First-to-Find” special prize for a certificate for a 1-night camping stay in each cache for the person who gets there first. ■Find one of the “endangered” gopher stuffed toys in 10 of the caches and it’s yours to keep and protect. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GEO-COINS Complete specific numbers of caches to get a custom geo-coin. Bring your stamped PassPort into the park’s Visitor Center and receive a voucher for your coin. ■ ■With 15 completed caches you are eligible for a bronze level coin ■With 30 completed caches you are eligible for a silver level coin ■With 40 completed caches you are eligible for a gold level coin To redeem your voucher and receive your coin, send the voucher to: Marketing Coordinator Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites 2 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, SE, Suite 1354 East Tower Atlanta, Georgia 30334 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BONUS CACHES Once you complete the caches for each coin level you are eligible for that level bonus cache.
