etrex vista issues

hello all -

 

I have an etrex vista that has started to act strange - here are the symptoms:

 

the system responds slowly from function to function - it used to be almost instantaneous but now takes several seconds to react or move from menu to menu - plus it can't find satellites - it displays a poor reception box.

 

any of this sound familiar?

 

what could the problem be?

 

ps - I reinstalled the firmware / software to version 3.80 - no change.

Sounds to me like it's busy trying to update the almanac.

 

Turn the thing on, lay it on the dash board of your car - under a clear sky and let it bake for 30 minutes.

 

Check it after 15 minutes to see if it's asking to continue acquisition.

You'll usually need to do the re-acquisition if you've traveled over 200 miles with the thing off.

Have you put NT maps in it recently as opposed to non NT maps?
