Hi,

 

I am new to this I have purchased the above Garmin I noticed a post on this forum (which I can’t find) I have downloaded the file for the open source mapping but I am unable to load it to my Garmin. When I go into the card information the file is their but in the miscellaneous space not in maps. My question is how do find the map section I am using a 2 GB card but I can’t select a section as it doesn’t give me an option.

Hi, I've got this model of Garmin too. The map file needs to be located in a folder called GARMIN on your memory card. If you connect your Etrex to your computer via the USB cable, switch it on, go to Menu > Setup > Interface then click on USB Mass Storage, the memory card details should display on your computer.

 

The memory card should have a folder called GARMIN, which contains the map file (mine's called GMAPSUPP.IMG). My first attempt at doing this failed too, because I didn't create a folder called GARMIN first.

So I have to on my card setup a file "Garmin" do I have to setup a maps file as well?

Done, only need the GARMIN file my file was the wrong name as well so changed to what you had all sorted many thanks that was nice and quick.
