Translation help, again

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've just placed one more cache, and, once again, I need some english-skilled geocacher to check my poor translation of the cache description :D

Thank you!

For those who got one hour to spend in personal cultural training, we suggest you to visit the Castle of "Le Vergene", before time and negligence will complete the decay of a such magnificent work that men created some centuries ago.

The compound is located in a scenic position, upon the crest of a hill west to Pievescola and can be reached driving on the SS426 road from Colle di Val d'Elsa toward the sea, then turning right over a white road and going by foot in the final part of the hunt.

It's composed of three main buildings and a church, located about 200 meters away inside the woods. It seems that it has been an important center and a sighting post during Middle Ages: the tower, that controls the entire village, is an evidence of this.

The entrance of the compound is a portal crowned by a Siena style lancet arch, located on the path; on the left, there is a rural building on two floors, with composite floor plan with various attached and aggregated structures, all overgrown by vegetation and without a roof; on the right, there is the tower of four floors, with rectangular floor plan, home of the nobles with warehouses and stables on the low ground; facing the tower, there is one more smaller rural building on two floors, with rectangular floor plan and one attached structure; they are also the well and a cypress between these two buildings.

The compound's inner space was the garden but it's uncultivated today. On the flank of the buildings, there is a small grassy plain, surrounded by trees (black locusts, oaks, firs). The castle is connected to the church by a road coasted by a line of cypresses and oak trees. Two more large specimens of cypress and oak tree are located on the sides of the church, where they are also some big bushes of broom.

The castle's existence is documented from the beginning of XIV century, it was owned by Siena until 1554, when Medici family of Florence conquered it. The church has a rectangular floor plan, with a brick bell tower and it's first mentioned on a XIII century document.

This cache is very easy to find, please accurately put stones back in place once you removed them to completely hide the container and prevent him from being accidentally discoverer from people extraneous to this game, since this location is often frequented by hunters.

WARNING!!! Buildings are in unstable conditions, you should absolutely avoid to go inside!

Have an happy tour!

The entrance to the castle compound is a portal crowned by a Siena style lancet arch, located on the path. On the left, there is a two-story rural building, with composite floor plan with various attached structures and outbuildings, all overgrown by vegetation and without roofs. On the right, there is a four-story tower, with rectangular floor plan, home of the nobles, with warehouses and stables on the ground floor. Facing the tower, there is a smaller two-story rural building, with rectangular floor plan and one attached structure. There is also a well and a cypress tree between these two buildings.
