ki0eh Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Hi folks, Google didn't work for me so I'll try here just in case there's some overlap between geocachers and GIS users. Is there an active discussion forum for GIS (I'm talking ArcGIS, ArcView, that kind of stuff) users in PA? I'm looking for a place to post a question like "What projection is Mifflin County shapefile and coverage data from 1999 in?" and hope to get an answer. (Although if someone here would like to answer, I'll try it... ) Don't tell me "NAD 1983 PA SPCS south, feet" because that ain't it... Thanks! Quote
+DeskJocky Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Doesn't Penn State host a bunch of GIS information. After the holidays you could try giving them a ring. It may take a few tries and phone calls but you should be able to get the information. Quote
truello Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Penn State does have a website with some useful data: http://www.pasda.psu.edu For counties I've found that census.gov has a nice shape file that contains county borders for every state. It won't answer your question but may provide you with an alternate shapefile (and they list the metadata for it on the site as well): http://www.census.gov/geo/www/cob/co2000.html Quote
ki0eh Posted December 28, 2007 Author Posted December 28, 2007 To clarify, I don't need the county border, but to reproject a bunch of old data (hypsography, parcels, land use, etc.) that the county generated a while ago, and it seems too many analysts moved on both here and there so was wondering if someone who had gotten the data elsewhere (it's not on PASDA) might know. Like I said, boring geek GIS question... Quote
