VantagePoint vs GeoBuddy or ExpertGps

I’ve been playing with all my software before my new Triton 1500 shows up and have found a file save conflict between GeoBuddy or ExpertGps and VantagePoint. If you open and save a gpx file using GeoBuddy or ExpertGps from geocaching.com it will no longer open properly in VantagePoint. However, the original download opens fine. Both GeoBuddy and ExpertGps are both modifying the file in a way that makes it incompatible with VantagePoint. The saved file after loading and saving in GeoBuddy or ExpertGps are smaller than the original, they still show up in the waypoint section but loose all the geocaching information, its still there but VantagePoint can not read it. GeoBuddy or ExpertGps still read it fine.

There are a lot of programs out there that consider "GPX support" to mean "if it opens a file from geocaching.com, I'm done". It's quite possible that Magellan hasn't done a thorough job of coding their GPX importer to handle both versions of GPX (GPX 1.0, and GPX 1.1).

In either ExpertGPS or GeoBuddy, click on the Geocache or Waypoint List, and then click Export on the File menu. Change the file type to GPX 1.0 File - this will export your data in a very basic GPX 1.0 format for maximum compatibility with older programs or ones with incomplete GPX support.
