MAPSOURCE 2 gps question

Hello all,

 

I have City Select North america V6, which allowed me to download the maps onto 2 different GPS's. I purchased a 3rd gps, and found out from garmin that I need to purchase a new verson of software to load maps onto it.

 

So I was wondering if anyone knows when, or what verson of city select / city navigator garmin stopped allowing users to load the maps onto 2 gps's.

Garmin allowed 2 unlocks through Version 8 up to 1 July (or was it 30 July?). As I understand it, they have allowed free upgrades to 2008 for folks purchasing Version 8 (new) after that date. I would expect that policy was only temporary until clearing dealer shelves of the old version. At any rate, their policy is only 1 unlock code for Version 2008 and future Versions.

 

I received an 2nd unlock for Version 8 in October, so if Version 8 was purchased prior to 1 July, they are apparently still allowing two unlocks.

 

For Version 8 purchased after their magic cut-off date, I don't know if they are allowing 2 unlocks, but I doubt it. The policy is due to their agreement with NavTec, their map vendor and not Garmin or so they say.

 

Unless you get an answer direct from Garmin you might be disappointed regarding the number of unlocks for older versions if you purchase one now.....
